Maria Lal is an assistant professor at AIKTC, Navi Mumbai. She is an expert in research areas and expertise in novel drug delivery systems, transdermal systems, non drug delivery, and epidemiology, and community studies. She has been a great guide to her students at both National and International levels.

Why do you like to be in the education sector?

“Teaching is a profession that makes another profession”

 Education is the base of each skill developed by individuals. By developing those skills it can be used as the most powerful concept to change the world to be a better place. It gives immense satisfaction to see our students prosper in all areas of life. Education never goes waste; it is all through your life as your soul which guides an individual towards a light to enlighten them.

What is the key to this successful career in this department?

“There are more milestones ahead to reach the pinnacle”

The passion to teach students and make them know about every new learning they require. We explore several new arenas to make our students aware of every new technology coming our way. To make a career in the pharmacy profession whether it be teaching or corporate based, it is very essential to have concern for the patients. Day by day as the world population is expanding, Strong research background and hard work towards the same leads to a successful career.

Being in such a good position of leadership, can you please tell me something about your leadership skills?

“Dynamic students make a dynamic teacher with teamwork”

I believe in democratic leadership where not only faculty members but also the students are included in the decision making. Being humble and constantly igniting sparks in the brain is one of the ways to be in a progressive relationship with your position. The participation of all the members in every hurdle comes our way and defines good leadership with great teamwork.

What are your thoughts about the Education system of India?

“Working well along with the education policy to enhance the quality education in Country”

The education system of India is catered to serve all strata of students. Now with the introduction of the national policy of education teaching and learning is evolving towards a more practical and troubleshooting approach which would build better professionals for developing country like India. This will make our education system more holistic and flexible. It will look out for more teamwork and collaboration.

Tell me something about your institute?

“The improvement of college with collaboration to several institutes”

  • Our campus provides world-class infrastructure and facilities to facilitate exuberant learning that other institutes would wish to emulate.
  • The aim of teaching is not just information dissemination but grooming the students from all aspects to build a healthy career with lifelong learning. 
  • One more spectacular quality about our campus is its multidisciplinary approach. It happened in the history of Mumbai for the first time where AICTE has approved all the three streams together i.e Architecture, Engineering, and Pharmacy.

What is the best part of your institute which is different from others?

“The growth by taking the Nation together towards development”

Our college provides the value to integration and secularism to the students to stand tall together for our country. There is no biasness among any students belonging to any caste, race. Every particular personality is properly being nurtured at our institution. Recently it was awarded Sir Syed National Excellence Award for its exemplary efforts towards the upliftment of the education system of socio-economically marginalized communities. 

What are your thoughts about the youth of this country?

“Our greatest institution for triumph and progress”

 Burj Khalifa, a classic example of world-class architectural heritage has a foundation pillar of the length as much as it has the height above. Similarly, Youth is the foundation stone of a person’s life which needs to be strengthened with good quality sand of focussed intellect and cement of noble thoughts which beliefs in integrity.

What's your definition of hard work?

“Hard work can be felt not defined”

The thought of keeping us charged with passion and enthusiasm can never be well defined in words. It is a feeling to be felt and inherited within us for moving forward in life carrying great accomplishments as well as failures. Hard work is also never looking back but focusing on future outcomes. 

Which things do you do to make healthy relationships with your students and teammates?

“Every person is a gem in itself, only you need to value it”

Institutes become our second homes as we spend most of the time. Therefore it is very much essential to build a healthy environment around us. Exchanging good thoughts and respecting others. As it is rightly said, “every person is a gem in itself, only you need to value it”. Welcoming suggestions from everyone gives good diversity and helps in decision making at tough times.

How do you set your goals? Just outline the process?

“Decide, Learn, Try, Achieve”

Decide, be headstrong, plan, Set Target, Set attainment, and map the result by reverse engineering, stay focused, and keep going. A sailor without a map is always lost in the deep sea, so it is essential to set the goal.
