Dr. S Ramalingam is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering department in the Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. He is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Coimbatore Institute of Technology and completed M.E Mechanical from Osmania University Engineering College, Hyderabad. Further, he did PhD in Mechanical Engineering from B S A Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. He worked as an Assistant professor in GKMCET-Mechanical and HOD in International Maritime Academy, Chennai. He completed the TOTA course and handled Mechanical or Marine subjects in different departments of IMA, GKMCET, and BIHER, Chennai. He has more than 25 years of experience in industrial and educational institutions.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students in Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai?

“To provide innovative ideas, assignments and maintain attendance records of students”

My role is to teach the students and deliver resources for them. We provide innovative ideas to the students along with the theory. I have maintained the attendance record conducting the class test and assignments. It helps me to analyze the best innovative students.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach to subjects and make it industry-oriented?

“Assist students to understand the concepts of industry and update syllabus as per latest trends”

We update syllabus and curriculum for students as per latest technological trends. Industrial visits ensure they know more about industrial concepts. I will tell students to understand the logic of industry.

“Assignments, practical sessions, mock tests and more are available for students”

Our campus offers best practices for pupils regularly. We are monitoring the student's behavior in the class. They need to attend the test apart from the exams. Additionally, students need to write the assignments based on practical areas. It ensures them to gain necessary knowledge. 

What are your views on the placements and higher education for the students on campus?

“Prepare students for higher education and give training for placements from the campus”

We give placements for students enrolled in each cours. Our curriculum covers industrial related subjects. It makes students better for their own placements in the industry. Faculties give training for mock interviews to the students. We prepare them for higher studies after graduation.

We give training for pupils to attain soft skills. It ensures them to face challenges in an interview and communicate things to others easily. Students can attend some software courses apart from the regular programs. We give advanced courses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, robotics and drones. Management and campus offer industrial visits for faculties as per industry standards. They need to attend the faculty development program and post their data. We also arrange some debates for faculty who are working in college to improve their skills.

One of the biggest strengths is syllabus updates each year. We give lab facilities for pupils according to the syllabus. They can gain some practical experience through labs. Other strengths of campus are faculties and students.
