What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Effective learning and best environment for students”

As Director of the department, it has been my duty to ensure a safe and clean environment for students such as positive communication, implementing hygiene rules, etc. Also, organizing various school events and maintaining an academic timetable is what I look after. To provide guidance and counseling, and set learning goals for students based on national curricula are my responsibilities.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Practical practices and professional networking”

In our school, besides understanding the theories, moot courts help the students to learn the courtroom etiquettes which help them later in their professional lives in case they opt for litigation. They also get to meet as well as work with legal professionals which enrich their professional networking.

What sets your school apart from those in other colleges in the field?

“Potentially qualified faculty”

The School of Law and Governance at JNU, is well known for its extraordinary faculty members who are highly specialized in their fields. For all the well-deserved accomplishments and accolades of our faculty members, it is their deep commitment to intellectual inquiry in law that sets them apart. How do you train the students and help them gain necessary skills?

“Several co-curricular events and activities”

Several events such as Mock Trial, public speaking, political activism, math clubs, chess clubs, writing competitions, debates, mock trials, school newspapers, and drama productions are scheduled throughout the session. Students are exposed to in-house training and mock courtrooms to gain a hold of their skills and abilities with reference for future improvements.

What are your thoughts on the ‘hybrid mode’ of education?

“Affordable and accessible”

Online learning is not only a choice for students, but the universities have also realized the benefits of offering hybrid courses and are now providing more online learning options than ever before. It is much more cost-effective for universities and encourages more students to enroll in their institutes distantly. A hybrid degree combines online learning with more traditional teaching methods, creating an affordable and accessible option for new students and professionals looking to take their careers to the next level.

What is your vision for the JNU’s School of Law and Governance?

“Producing quality law professionals and ideas”

The School of Law and Governance continuously challenges and tests ideas in its teaching, moots, and conversations. A diversity of perspectives strengthens intellectual inquiry of this sort, and we welcome students and faculty of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Debate and deliberation also require open discussion, and the School of Law and Governance has repeatedly reaffirmed its commitment to freedom of expression. The school is not a place where everyone agrees with everyone else, nor a place where everyone talks to only like-minded peers or professors. Instead, the School is a place where conversations between people with different views often yield the most valuable insights and the closest friendships.
