When you first came to Amity, what was your vision for your department? What changes do you see now?
“Changes are meant to keep improving the institute for excellence we require”
Well, after spending a decade with a Hospitality School attached with a Hotel Group, it was a quite different setup for me at Amity. I found the initial concentration of everyone within the department was with Academics and slightly there was a lack of professionalism within the department. I started discussing with my team and within a month, I could see the changes in the department – right from Grooming of the Faculties to active participation and enthusiasm among the students. My Vision is to see that one-day Amity School of Hospitality features among the Top Five Institutes in India.
What goals do you have in mind for your department for the next few years?
“Hospitality and holistic atmosphere in the college for students’ growth”
Hospitality- is one Industry which keeps on changing with times. To ensure your students do not lack behind, it is imperative to bring changes to your curriculum in consultation with the Industry. We keep on reviewing our curriculum from time to time and ensure it remains updated. Research and Innovation is the key to success today. 70% of my teaching faculties are with Ph.D. now and I wish to see 100% within the next few years. Entrepreneurship is another area on which we are closely working so that tomorrow, we start producing Job Givers than Job Seekers.
How do you strategize about the key programs and plan for the administration of your department?
“Teamwork and mutual regulating administration for the smooth working of the institute”
I, strongly believe in working as a team and do not trust Authoritative Leadership. Job descriptions and Key expectations are clearly defined for the teammates. We have a very strong system of Mentorship Model for the students, which helps me to ensure that the student’s queries and difficulties come to me without delay and they are addressed within a span of defined time. The proper delegation, timely motivation, and ownership of responsibilities among the teammates, really helps me to manage the entire proceedings of the School.
