What are your opinions on the New Education Policy 2020?

“Futuristic transformation of Indian Education System”

The NEP declared in 2020 foresees many innovations in teaching-learning and examination pedagogies. The focus is shifting from making every student knowledgeable about all subjects superficially to help them attain specific competencies and skills. The emphasis is on empowering the learner with desired knowledge and providing practice opportunities to master the skills. We are witnessing an enormous level of digital involvement in industries including pharmaceuticals with a surge of AI and ML innovations.

What approaches do you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“Frequent industrial exposure and subject training”

The teaching and training in pharmacy aims to provide understanding of fundamentals and developing ability to apply the knowledge in real situations. The pharmaceutical products are highly sensitive and need utmost precision during all stages of manufacturing, distribution, storage and dispensing as well as usage. We instill the concepts in the students by exposing them to real-time production environments in the FDCA approved manufacturing unit functioning within the college premises. The group discussion on the problem handling situations and presentations of outcomes before the industry experts helps them appreciate different aspects of formulation or process issues. The regular visits to industry and panel discussion, expert talks of renowned professionals help the students in keeping abreast with latest developments in the pharma arena. The innovations are supported and rewarded, students are mentored to express and present their ideas on different platforms.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Your decisions lay foundation of your future, choose wisely”

The young students confronting the situation of selecting a career path and choosing an appropriate course to pursue should give diligent thought to their own interests and capabilities. One should not make such a significant decision looking at the majority of prevailing trends. Every branch of higher studies requires a pre-knowledge of certain subjects and offers an opportunity to specialize and prepare you for taking up a certain career path. Professional education is undergoing a transformation and therefore needs you to adapt to challenging demands, prepare yourself well. Make a well informed decision while selecting a course to pursue not only looking to the future prospects in that field but also your own interest and adaptability to the condition of employment in that sector.
