Dr. Tushar Kanti, Director of Mangalmay Institute of Engineering and Technology

Dr. Tushar is the Director of Mangalmay Institute of Engineering and Technology. He is a qualified educationist with rich experience in the field of Education, along with an ability to handle core administration related activities such as infrastructure, facility, human resources, admission, counseling, public relations, training and development of staff members, organizational behavior and organization development. He can be headhunted for spearheading the efforts across reputed or new institutes as Director/ Principal.

Dr. Tushar has completed Ph.D. in Management and Ph.D. in Political Science and is pursuing D.Lit with a record of promoting the welfare of the institution by enhancing staff efficiency and productivity through efficient administration, effective motivation, guidance, and incentives. He has been awarded with the Life Time Achievement Award by Lions International and Certificate of Appreciation by Rotary Club.

He is bestowed with the award for Efficient Management of Education System by HJM, Moradabad and Outstanding & Exemplary service to the nation in the field of education since 1994 by Rotary International Vocational Award.

Dr. Tushar has also made significant contribution in endowing educational help to the Poor, Meritorious and down-trodden students under the ‘IAMR Scholarship Scheme’ for Under-Graduate and higher studies.

Before Mangalmay Group of Institutions, Dr. Tushar has also worked with Sunderdeep Group of Institutions, IME Group of Colleges, Singhania University Jhunjhunu, IAMR Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad, HLM Group of Institutions, Ghaziabad and many more esteemed institutions.

Experience in the education industry

I find the education industry very unique industry in the sense that it offers a lot more creative satisfaction than any other industry.  This industry provides a chance to give back to the society in a big way.  These are the reasons which make education industry the best industry to work in.

My philosophy of leadership is consensual.  I try to take along people for achieving organizational goals. I believe in giving broad guidelines and then allowing people to do the jobs in their own way.

Significant challenges faced as the Director of Mangalmay Institute of Engineering and Technology

The biggest challenge faced at the institutional level is to guide and motivate the students to achieve their educational and professional goals in the face of so many distractions available today.

Dr. Kanti on time management

Nobody can deny the importance of time management in today’s hectic world.  For this purpose, I have divided my day into two parts.  Pre-lunch sessions are meant for taking stock of the ongoing activities and planning.  Post lunch sessions are for a regular round of the institution and meeting students and faculty.

As we are affiliated to AKTU we follow their curriculum and through add-on courses and industry exposure through guest lectures, industrial visits etc. We ensure best practices of industry.

The growth of students through placement opportunities has been tremendous.  Now our students are placed in the well-known companies.  To push the envelope further, we are concentrating more on soft skills and interpersonal communication.

On establishing a good relationship with the students

During the post-lunch session, I have kept a one-hour slot for students when they can meet me without prior appointment.  In case of some urgent matter, they can approach me through the Head of Department.

For me, the ideal environment of college would be which is conducive to the overall growth of the students. For this purpose, I emphasize a lot on including more and more extracurricular activities in the academic calendar.

My advice to the students would be to think big and try to be job providers rather than job seekers.
