Prof. (Dr.) Maninder Kaur Mam is Mphil, Ph.D., and is presently the Director of Guru Nanak Institute of Management, one of the prestigious and ranked institutes affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. She has also officiated as Deputy Director of Higher Education DSGMC for minority schools and colleges under the renowned trust of having a chain of 13 schools and 9 colleges affiliated with GGSIPU and the University of Delhi. She has a rich experience of over 18 years of academics and 8 years of Administrative work that adds to her understanding of the operational phase of an educational sphere. She has published and presented numerous research papers, contributed book Chapters, and Research papers on various topics in National and International Conferences and Journals. She is on board as an active research paper reviewer with National and International journals. She is an active member of the International Association of Commerce and Management (IACM). She is also on the Advisory Board of many renowned organisations. She has been a resource person and guest speaker on various diverse issues in universities across India. She was awarded best Speaker in the seminar organised by LIC 'Talking about issues and various behavioural patterns of customers'. Besides various awards and appreciations, she has actively been participating in various social activities, student counselling sessions, and NGO assignments. In her passion to help and guide student fraternity, she has been actively coordinating & organising various Career Guidance Fairs with more than 84 National and International Universities, Embassy’s Educational Bodies, and Institutes, Educating students of Baramulla, J& K in collaboration with Indian Army and many more. Her profile was selected to be among the success stories of Prominent Sikh Scholars & Educationists globally. Leadership is a visionary philosophy that is to motivate the team through goal-setting engagements and overcoming challenges. I am a person working 24X7 ready to guide, Mentor, and inspire my team to improve performance constantly. I strongly believe in transparency, trust, and honesty. My focus is to train my team to not only discuss the problems but also think of the right solutions.

A healthy relationship and environment can be created in the institute only to provide proper decentralisation, motivation, and employee growth opportunities.

I am of the view that Ethics should not be forgotten while exercising leadership as an Ethical leader should possess the set of behavioural principles and values that are identified and accepted by the majority in viable pioneers in inspiring, developing, and establishing a culture of trust and respect.

The curriculum of the college should be built in such a way that everyone should be given skilled training and placement should be realistic in terms of practical exposure in such a way that it brings industry to the classroom.

Guru Nanak Institute of Management is a Sikh Minority Institute, that clearly understands the meaning of equality and the importance of academics and skills for students irrespective of caste and creed. Following the values imbibed in Guru Granth Sahib ji and preaches of Guru Nanak Dev ji, different races should be treated equally and there should not be any discrimination or biases for particular castes. Students of the weaker section, single parents, girl children, etc are offered various scholarships and concessions at Institute’s level based on their academic performance to provide them with maximum opportunities for their growth.

The Institute should arrange more fruitful guest lectures from industry-related people from specialised areas and conduct more result-oriented seminars, workshops, and conferences. The curriculum of the college should be built in such a way that everyone should be given skilled training and placement should be realistic in terms of practical exposure in such a way that it brings industry to the classroom. Involve industry people, and academicians to design the curriculum with their input.


What is the top priority of the institute after 10 years?

The institute's top priority within 10 years is to prepare our institute for giving the students the best placement.

My role and responsibilities towards the institute are loyalty and towards students who must be helpful in any situation as per their desired needs.

To promote students’ intrinsic motivation by providing meaningful and progressively challenging learning experiences which include, but are not limited to: self-exploration, questioning, making choices, setting goals, planning, organising, implementing, self-evaluating, and demonstrating initiative in tasks and projects.

I can tend to build a healthy relationship and environment by giving my best professionally and personally both with every level of employee. Though it's a bilateral relationship. It can be created by the top level in the institute to provide proper decentralisation, motivation, decrease overburdens, and employees growth opportunities in terms of increments or perks as per defined nature. Simultaneously the employees must show the intent to provide solutions to the organisation and be ready for support at every level.
