What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Important to understand the industry needs by staying connected to the sector”
I believe that to stay relevant, you must continuously upskill yourself. As an educationist, it is my responsibility to develop the students who are industry ready.
I have a deep interest in research and research methodologies. I try to attend webinars, seminars, and conferences to understand the current areas being researched.
What is your philosophy of leadership?
“To leave behind the age old typical hierarchical ways and adopt modern methods”
I don’t consider myself a leader yet, but I try to act as a bridge between the management and faculty. While I listen and consolidate the suggestions, I bring alignment in the way we want to work and achieve our defined goals.

How does the curriculum of SVR College Bangalore ensure the best practice of industry?

As we are affiliated with Bangalore University, our curriculum is broadly based on the University curriculum. However, we are trying to go beyond and thus we are offering six different types of value-added certificates. Students can enrol and get certified in courses like SPSS, Personality development, Business Analytics, etc. We are trying to ready the students for real-world situations with help of real-time case studies, live projects, and conducting various competitions.
What do you think your responsibilities to the College and the students are?
“Enabling seamless operations in the department and maintaining high academic standards”
As a faculty member, my prime responsibility is to teach the subjects in the best possible way. All the students in my class are welcome to put forth their idea and suggestions. As an HoD, my responsibility is that the faculty understands the management point of view also. This helps in the smooth functioning of the department. I am also supposed to handle the faculty concerns and involve the management at the right time.
What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?
“To incorporate maximum number of practical learning hours in the syllabus”
In my opinion, college should focus more on practical learning and go beyond theoretical knowledge. To retain the interest of students in the degree courses, students must getMr the flexibility and learning opportunities at the same time. Our teaching methodologies should evolve. Additionally, our students should get familiar with future techs like AI, ML, Big Data, BlockChain etc.
What do you see as SVR College Bangalore’s greatest strengths?
“Working under the guidance of an excellent Director Mr. Ranjith S.V.”
The biggest strength of SVR is our executive director Mr. Ranjith S.V. He is a far-sighted man and always empowers the vision of the faculty. He is an understanding leader who values his team members. It is this quality which motivates the staff to work harder.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

- BU is a big university which affiliates almost 300 colleges. It provides education in all the streams from graduation till Ph.D.
