Being the Department Head, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

“It is to guide and support students with respect to their academic queries as and when required"

Being the Department Head, one of my responsibilities is to inspire students to bring creativity in their studies. In addition to this, I also need to ensure their overall personality development and assist them whenever they get stuck somewhere.

How do you establish health relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"By promoting the culture of collaboration and open communication"

I strongly believe that collaboration among team members makes it easy to achieve shared goals as it creates a competitive climate, which encourages everyone to perform their best. And I am fortunate enough to have a fellow faculty member of a similar mindset. All of us work in coherence to establish good communication channels between staff members and students for emotional wellness and ensuring constructive relationships between everyone. At our Department, we interact with students regularly, provide them an open platform to put forward their views and also to address their issues.

How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

“Regular experiments and collaborative learning sessions are conducted in this respect"

For the purpose of enforcing a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects, I maintain a collaborative learning environment during classroom teaching by allowing the natural flow of communication. In addition to this, I augment my teaching with virtual laboratory experiments where students would not require any instrumentation and learn the concepts quickly.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

“We supplement the existing teaching methods with guest lectures, conferences and seminars like events"

We follow the curriculum designed by the University we are affiliated to. And although the existing syllabus provides a quality congregation of contents, we try to supplement the learning beyond the syllabus by conducting expert lectures, workshops and conferences etc. In this way, we provide better learning experiences to students and help them to learn things outside of the syllabus. Because to work in the outside world we need many more skills along with theoretical knowledge of subjects.

What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department?

"We provide our full support to students with respect to preparation for PG course and employment"

We provide all kinds of support to our students with respect to exam details, application process and about the other things as well to assist them to pursue higher education through career counseling sessions. And we are also doing good placement wise as many of our students are part of reputed companies and help us with respect to recruitment drives regularly.

How do you prepare your students to cope up with this competitive world?

“Webinars and workshops are organized to make students confident to face this world with more confidence"

Our college conducts career-oriented expert presentations, seminars, webinars and workshops on a variety of topics on a regular basis to make our students aware about the available career scopes in the outside world and upgrade their knowledge. In addition to this, our teaching pedagogy imbibes questions from several competitive examinations and students don't require any specific coaching for that. Lastly, we assign them real time projects to test their skills and help them to learn new one.

Which extracurricular activities are organized in college to enhance the skills of students?

"We regularly conduct activities like creative learning sessions, guest lectures, seminars and quizzes"

We regularly organize co-curricular activities like quizzes, brainstorming competitions, guest lectures, extension lectures, seminars and other activities linked to the subject and other practical issues, in our college to foster the culture of teamwork, good communication and relationships and to instill a sense of belonging in all students and it helps to enhance their overall personality. I also encourage them to take part in other competitions and events so that they may assess their potential in the outside world and improve their abilities to attain their objectives.

What challenges are you facing to uplift the education quality of your department?

"Arranging funds to establish research labs in college and introducing PhD program in curriculum are two major roadblocks"

We are facing different kinds of issues at different levels. Firstly, we need to collect funds to establish research laboratories in our college campus with all the required modern research equipment. In addition to this, there is an urgent need to start the PhD program in our Department. So we need to immediately fix these issues as our main motive is to give sufficient opportunities to students so that they can undertake research projects even during their graduation.

What approaches do you bring in apart from the curriculum to teach the students?

"I motivate them to upgrade their skills and let me know for help as and when required"

My main objective is to encourage students to learn new skills on their own first and as and when required, I keep supporting them with my guidance.
