Dr. K Venkata Murali Mohan is a director of the Teegala Krishna Reddy Engineering College. He did B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. in Engineering. Dr. Murali Mohan has more than 20 years of experience in teaching and administration. He is an optimist who believes in close connectivity among students, parents, teachers, and support staff. What are your roles and responsibilities?

“Implement and monitor College policies and safety protocols”

All higher-level operations in a College are overseen by the principal. Create a safe learning environment and set performance goals both for students and faculty. Moreover, the principal supervises faculty, staff and keeps track of student performance. It ensures that College facilities remain safe for students and faculty. This plan regular maintenance of College grounds and equipment. Principals also research and acquire new materials and resources to improve the experience of both students and staff. The responsibilities of a principal are setting performance objectives for students and Staff, monitoring College policies and safety protocols, and overviewing administrative tasks.

How does your department prepare students for higher education?

“Workshops, training, mock interviews, campus placements, internships, industry visits are available for students”

College’s career services center proves to be of great use for shaping career paths. Placement Cells are the support providers which shape the students to a brighter future. Some of the greatest responsibilities of the college are embedded in the functioning of this department. The Career Resource Centers contain proficient counselors who are familiar with contemporary industry trends. It also provides guidance and mentoring for all choice-based career options like Placements, Entrepreneurship, Higher Studies services. Workshops, training, mock interviews, campus placements, internships, industry visits are available for students to improve their higher studies. Consulting placement center is always a great option because it resolves numerous career-related issues. It gives back-end support for a better career avenue to the student. 

What approaches do you bring apart from the curriculum to teach students?

“Extra support and a different learning approach for pupils”

Some students need a little extra support to benefit from the curriculum. The reality is that every child’s brain works differently. It needs a little extra support or a different learning approach. We have implemented five strategies to help students improve their focus. The first one is to begin class with a mindful minute. I take 60 seconds to help students focus attention on their breathing and calm their nervous system. It helps their brain become ready to learn. Incorporate movement is the second one. Some students face difficulty paying attention to the teacher. Movement helps stimulate neural networks in the brain and increases blood flow. It puts students in a better mindset to think and recall. The third one is to take sensory breaks. Research from the Council for Exceptional Children recommends taking sensory breaks to help children relieve stress and improve their focus. These breaks can be built into the regular class schedule. Building foundational cognitive skills is the fourth one. Attention is a foundational cognitive skill that students need to become successful learners. The online program helps us prepare each student’s brain for reading and learning by improving cognitive skills. The final one is to create a growth mindset classroom. We help students to become better learners and develop confidence in life.

How do you help a student to deal with competition in the outside world?

“Learning beyond the classroom and teaching students to use their Brain Owner's Manual”

Students of today need new skills for the coming century. It makes them ready to collaborate with others on a global level. Evaluate information accuracy of pupils. Students need to know how to find accurate information and use critical analysis. Another one is teaching tolerance. The job applicants of the future will be evaluated by their ability to communicate with openness and tolerance for unfamiliar ideas. It is necessary to use learning beyond the classroom. This is the practice that makes permanent aspects that develop more efficient information transmission. Students need to use what they learn repeatedly. Moreover, teach students to use their brain owners manual. They can change their brains and intelligence. Hence, it helps to build their resilience. 

What is the rate of admissions in TKREC compared to last year? 

“Rise of admission rate from the previous year”

The 90% admission rate on campus increased from last year. We introduced two new emerging courses. These are Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, and Design. It helps to raise the admission rate.

We have introduced two new programs in our college. These are Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Computer Science. These are the emerging courses in the current scenario as per the industry needs. The courses for this academic year raise students' skills. They get more employment opportunities compared with the traditional courses.
