Dr H Ramakrishna is the Principal of Sapthagiri College of Engineering, Bengaluru. He completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and has also completed Masters and Ph.D. He has devoted 32 years to teaching young engineering students. Under his expert guidance, the branch has secured more than 49 university ranks. He has been a creative problem solver who consistently demonstrates excellence and quality in his research work with over 80 National and International publications in his account. He guided more than 100 B.E. Projects and 40 M.Tech projects. His Research Interest is Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Manufacturing, Human Resources Management, Supply Chain Management, Lean Manufacturing, Energy Management, Composites and Materials.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“To provide guidance and inspiration to improve the team's performance constantly”

I believe constant change is the only pathway forward. I intend to motivate my team through goal-setting and overcoming challenges. I would describe my leadership style as direct, and leading by example. I enjoy delegating tasks and taking the lead on projects, but I also like to stay involved and inspire my team.

How do you plan for the marketing and administration of your school?

“Campus programs, education fairs and policies aligning to students academic needs”

Marketing and administration are two different entities. But certainly one complements the other. I always believe in the fact that the students are our brand ambassadors. Hence good administration certainly leads to the growth of the students academically and socially. Hence these students become the emissaries of our college. Apart from this, we conduct more campus programs to increase our visibility in Bangalore and other states. As part of CSR activities, our students visit nearby schools and they involve themselves in educating the rural students in Computers and English Proficiency.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

“Provide quality education to our students and also nurture them to evolve as a professional”

We are an affiliated Institution. Our Curriculum is as per Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). We ensure best practice by teaching beyond syllabus, organizing Soft Skill training sessions, technical training, guest lectures, Hands-on workshops, and Conferences.

What do you think your responsibilities to the college and the students are?

“Impart knowledge, good values and provide support at institutional level”

As a Principal, my primary and the most important responsibility for the college is to take the College to a higher academic level. We have already taken a step forward regarding this. Sapthagiri College of Engineering is ISO9001:2015 & ISO 14001: 2015 certified and also we are accredited “A” grade by NAAC. We have established many Industry oriented labs and encourage the students to actively involve in them. 

What has been your vision for this college?

“Increase student success rates across all disciplines while maintaining academic standards”

The vision of all the stakeholders of this College is to gain top ranking in the Karnataka State. My motive is to improve educational attainment levels by assisting students in identifying academic and professional goals. Design and implement a comprehensive system of responsibility, accountability for increasing campus diversity. Additionally, climate advancing the knowledge base for creating and sustaining a culturally diverse community of learners, teachers, research workers.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

The main strength of the College is the location. The college is surrounded by top industries like Toyota, Triveni, etc. It helps our students make use of the expertise of industry experts in their projects and internships. Added to this is the lush green campus with good infrastructure and ICT enabled classrooms. The sports facility is excellent which is evident from the fact that Sapthagiri College has secured 8th position in VTU for its Sports and Cultural activities in previous years.
