Dr Anirban Kundu is currently working as HOD – CSBS at Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Kolkata. With a Postdoctoral (Comp. Sc.) in High Performance Computing from Kuang-Chi Institute of Advanced Technology, Shenzhen, P. R. China; he has an extensive experience of 20 years in the field. Besides being a leader and professional academician, Dr. Anirban Kundu has conducted and attended many national and international seminars and conferences in his career.

What do you think are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Ensuring full professional growth and skill development”

I take my role in encouraging and motivating students for participation in various academic and co-curricular activities to ensure their holistic development. I try to motivate the students, using my subject knowledge & experience, for deeper learning and professional approaches towards life. Also, I make students practice online subject oriented mock tests, discuss real-time issues in a lucid manner with a proper subject oriented mapping and undergo research projects that enhance their skills and knowledge. 

What are the best practices offered to help students gain necessary skills?

“Encouraging students with better learning methodologies”

I believe that learning becomes most efficient if it can appeal to students at a personal level. Students learn better when they are actively engaged with the learning process at both a personal and an intellectual level. It is important to engage students in classroom discussions; invite and encourage students to volunteer to the board and attempt to solve specific problems. Also, stimulating students’ interest and imagination by drawing from real-world examples, and guiding their reflection on the process aids better skill development and enhances real world knowledge. We arrange formal discussions with experts and industrial professionals on research related activities involving present curriculum based studies. 

How do you strategize the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

“Associating potential information and knowledge for best outcomes”

Initial curriculum is proposed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for the benefit of the industry in India and abroad having close relation with the state of the art knowledge, information, strategy, and experience. Our university faculty members and personnel are totally involved in making an advanced syllabus based on the initial information to make it a best fit for the industry on a regular basis. The course is designed so that skilled engineers are propagated with advanced working tools and techniques and innovative resolutions for our society. We prepare our students to build themselves more industry ready and employable engineers who can drive innovation and add value to the organization as well as to the nation in the era of Business 4.0.

What are the types of projects that your students are working on?

Computer Science and Business Systems (CSBS) B.Tech. Programme focuses on enhancing several key attributes among graduating students, such as innovation ability, understanding of contemporary technology, understanding of technology abstraction, knowledge of common business principles, business discipline and service orientation, strong ethics & life values. Various types of research and industry oriented projects are being managed by the faculty and staff members for the interested students in broad categories like Cloud Computing, Pattern Recognition, Unix & Shell Programming, Object oriented Programming, Data Warehouse, Web Services, Cellular Automata and many more. Students have wider choices to work for ventures in financial organizations, management consultancy firms, software houses, communications companies, governmental agencies, universities and hospitals.

We provide them with opportunities for research publications with proper guidance, industry oriented projects and value aided training programs to expose them to real life circumstances and boost their confidence. We also offer a Spoken Tutorial programme, assisted by IIT Bombay, MHRD and GATE related studies using our GateTutor programme for further higher education preparations. We lay more focus on collaborative, critical and creative thinking skills, opening student’s perspectives to the realm of research and examine course-related research and to come up with innovative ideas.
