Dr Santosh Bhosale is the Director of Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad. He has completed his M.Tech, MBA and Ph.D. in this field and holds a vast experience of 29 years in academics and research. Under his guidance, 5 candidates have completed their Post Graduation Dissertation and Eight Ph.D. students are currently working. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (L.M.I.S.T.E.) and has contributed immensely to enhance the academics in this field.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“I strongly believe that setting goals and empowering teammates is essential”

Being the Director of MIT, my philosophy of leadership is complete trust in my colleagues. Also, setting out objectives and empowering them completely to deliver their best. My leadership style can be described as Free-rein or Laissez-Faire type. 


How do you plan the marketing and administration of your Institute?

“Initiating modern courses in the field and using digital platforms to raise awareness”

Being an autonomous institute, we are planning to start new undergraduate courses and certificate courses in emerging areas from the academic year 2021-22. We are starting B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Our work in the field of technical education is made known to society through social media campaigning, newspapers, participation in the various ranking frameworks, etc. 


What can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

“Excellent globally relevant technical education and exposure to industry”

Our Institute is operating in an area that is an auto hub and has the presence of many big industries. Our institute has had good industry connections for the last 20 years and has tie-ups with more than 300 hundred companies. We provide a mandatory one complete semester on-field training to all our final year students to make them industry-ready.

How does the curriculum of the MIT, Aurangabad ensure the best practice of industry?

“Industry-based projects and an experiential pedagogy”

As an autonomous institute, we can decide our curriculum and update it as per the needs of the industry. We have our board of studies and there is a good representation of industry people on it. All the engineering departments are represented equally. With the help of experts and strong alumni connect, we can ensure the inclusion of best practices into the curriculum.

The historical city of Aurangabad is always ready to welcome students of different races and economic backgrounds. It is going to be a smart city soon apart from the development of the big industrial area in Shendra-Bidkin township. Our institute also has given admissions to students from all the states of the country and foreign nationals as well.


What do you think your responsibilities to the institute and the students are?

“Ensure that all resources go towards the development of all faculty and learners”

My role is mainly to plan for the growth of the institute and direct all the resources for the accomplishment of the same. As far as students are concerned, we focus on their capacity building to develop their self-learning ability. This is coupled with character-building to make them good citizens of this country.


What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Becoming one of the top-ranked educational institutes in the country”

In the next 10 years, the institute will move towards the next level of academic recognition. It is to achieve the status of deemed to be university. We also aim to be ranked in the top 100 institutes in the country in NIRF ranking.

What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?

“Unique Centre of Excellence developed for better learning process”

  • The Institute has recently developed few centres of excellence such as:MIT-Center for Analytical studies and Research 
  • MIT-Center for Industry Relevance in Polymer Science 
  • MIT-Agricultural Research and Development Center

These provide consultancy to the industry, government and society at large. Through these, the students get a chance to work on live projects in the industry environment.
