New Delhi: Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi famously known as BHU has launched a special Fellowship programme "Teach for BHU" for Ph.D students in the university. This scheme will help students to nurture teaching skills to excel in their professional life.
BHU has launched this scheme, with the objective to engage BHU Ph.D. scholars in teaching so that they can be trained about the best teaching practices & prepare them for an exceptional academic career.
The decision to introduce the "Teach for BHU" scheme was taken during the Governing Body meeting of Institution of Eminence, BHU, under the mentorship of Vice-Chancellor Professor Sudhir K. Jain.
Engaging Ph.D. students in teaching will help them acquire and demonstrate skills in leadership, project management and people management. The idea behind the launch of this fellowship scheme is to provide interested and shortlisted Ph.D scholars with an opportunity to make best use of their time after thesis submission.
Students who have submitted or are expected to submit a thesis (within 6 years of admission) will be eligible to apply for the scheme. Aspiring students may apply six months before the expected date of submission of the thesis.
Students selected for this fellowship will get the opportunity to teach in the University, its associated colleges and schools including nearby under-privileged schools.
The "Teach for BHU Fellowship" will have a time duration of 12 months. Selected candidates will receive a Fellowship of INR 40,000 per month & INR 6,000 HRA over the 12 month engagement period.
The university has formed a three member committee under the Convenership of Professor S.K Singh, Faculty of Education for smooth implementation of this scheme. Other two members of the committee are; Professor A.K Singh, Department of Geography, Mahila Mahavidyalaya, BHU & Professor Satyapal Sharma, Department of Hindi, Faculty of Arts.
