BBAU Mandates Ph.D. Thesis Evaluation from Foreign Professors for Awarding Degree to Research Scholars

New Delhi: Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) will now send the thesis of Ph.D. research scholars to both university professors as well as foreign professors for evaluation and quality assurance.

BBAU Mandates Ph.D. Thesis Evaluation from Foreign Professors for Awarding Degree to Research Scholars

With this step, the BBAU has become the second university in India after Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University where a Ph.D. student’s thesis will be evaluated by professors from abroad. The degree will only be awarded to students after the successful evaluation of their thesis.

The step has been taken to ensure the high quality of research of BBAU and to make sure that the evaluation process is done properly without any error.

While talking about the steps, BBAU Faculty Member, Professor Kaman Sign said, "BBAU has been awarding a lot of PhDs, hence to ensure that the quality of research is not compromised and the research work of our students goes through the eye of foreign experts".

"We have decided that one of the two professors who will examine the thesis and research work of Ph.D. scholars will be done by a professor of foreign universities," he added.

Adding foreign professors to the thesis evaluation process will also improve the global exposure of the institute as well as the research work done by the BBAU PG Course scholars. Additionally, Institue's Ph.D. supervisors will work hard to meet international standards.

Adding to the statement, Controller of Examination at BBAU, Professor Kaman Sing said that the decision to include one Indian and one foreign professor in the evaluation process has been approved by the BBAU academic council and board of members.

So far, the standard practice of BBAU included the selection of two experts for Ph.D. evaluation from the suggestions submitted by the research guide. The selected experts are given the task to evaluate students’ thesis with care and accuracy.

In case the thesis is not fully approved or is partially rejected by any of one professor, then the research work is then sent to another foreign/Indian professor for further evaluation. If the thesis is still not approved, it is sent to the student for revisions purposes.

Students are then advised to work on the research paper based on suggestions made by the professors, and send their rectified work for evaluation. The BBAU Ph.D. Degree is only awarded to students after the successful acceptance of their thesis.

As of now, there are over 20+ specializations available under the BBAU Ph.D. Admission for interested candidates. To apply for the admission process, candidates are required to have a master’s degree in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks in total.
