AP Government to Reopen Colleges from Oct 15, All CETs to be held in Sept 2020, says CM Jagan Mohan Reddy


The government of Andhra Pradesh has announced that it is planning to reopen all degree colleges in the state to resume offline classes.

In a notification issued by the Andhra Pradesh Govt, it was stated that degree colleges are to resume the academic session from October 15, 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic while practising all the precautionary methods to avoid possible transmission of the disease among students or staff.  

In a review meeting conducted on 6th August, Jagan Mohan Reddy, the CM of Andhra Pradesh stated that all CETs Examinations will be held in September 2020 before the colleges resume 20-21 session.

Officials of the Education Department have also been advised by Mr. Reddy to ensure that all safety precautions and measures are put in place and the colleges are to be prepared for the same. 

He claimed in the meeting that in terms of emerging cases of COVID-19, Andhra Pradesh is under control and is capable of resuming higher education by following necessary measures. The health and safety of students and staff is however going to be the first priority while resuming offline teaching.

The CM also addressed the newly implemented NEP 2020 in terms of the state’s education system. He said that functioning according to the NEP 2020, the state will follow the mandatory 10 months of apprenticeship upon completion of 3+1 years of graduation with the skill development program. 

The CM also advised all officials of Government colleges and universities to begin recruiting assistant professors immediately.
