In the recently released ‘US News and World Report Rankings 2020', the Department of Mathematics at AMU has grabbed 175th position globally and has been squarely placed as a foremost University of National Importance with 4th rank among the Indian Universities.
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is observing its centenary year when the rankings has been awarded and is a very proud moment for AMU, said the Vice-Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor who also added that AMU stands as one of the most prestigious and successful universities with very high entry standards of teaching and learning.
Professor Mansoor congratulated the faculty members and the students of the mathematics department for their unrelenting efforts and achieving this success. He added that most of the students from all over the world are attracted towards Aligarh Muslim University.

The department of Mathematics at AMU has a very strong and active group of researchers who are working relentlessly in the core area of pure and applied mathematics, said the chairman of the mathematics department, Professor Mohammed Ashraf.
The ‘US News and World Report’ Ranking act as an indicator and aid to the strategic management of institutions across the world and it is through these rankings, most of the students all over the world decide their study and career options. While the AMU's Mathematics department has been ranked 1st in India with a subject score of 47.8 and global score of 41.5.
