Allahabad University Exam 2020: Exam Rescheduled Due to Power Outage Caused by Ongoing Strike

October 7, 2020: Allahabad University’s postgraduate and undergraduate exams were postponed due to a strike caused by the electrical department. The strike caused the power blackout in the Allahabad region, making it difficult for students to appear for the online examination.

Allahabad University examination was scheduled to be held via online computer-based mode on October 7, 2020. Due to issues faced by students because of the power blackout, the Uttar Pradesh Government rescheduled the PG and UG examination to later dates.

The postgraduate final year examination is now rescheduled to be held on October 22 and October 23 for PG courses. The examination for other courses will be held on October 15 and October 16.

The main aim of the strike caused by power workers is to protest against the privatization of electricity in the states.

Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti addressed a complete boycott call throughout the protest. Essential services like hospitals have been excluded from the strike boycott.

A government spokesman said in a report," The government has identified critical power stations for beefing up security around them and also chalked out an action plan to hand over power transmission and distribution systems to alternative staff if needed".
