Holding the hands of Rev. Drs. Mark Buntain and Huldah Buntain, Mercy Healthcare was founded in 1977. The organisation has evolved from a small clinic to a multi-specialty hospital with 173 beds, 22 specialty units and 17 community clinics which has been diligently serving more than 100,000 patients each year. Maintaining the 40 year old mission to provide free healthcare facilities to 40% of the patients, Mr. Sanjay Prasad, President & CEO, with his noteworthy leadership is expanding hospital’s mission in volumes while setting the quality standards for healthcare management in Kolkata and its surrounding regions. Founders Rev. Drs Mark and Huldah Buntain, moved to Kolkata as missionaries in the year 1954. Since then they helped poor and needy people with medical treatments with compassion day & night. They believed in helping each and every ‘Children of God’ and thus from that concept the hospital’s moral were engraved. The hospital’s logo symbolises with a gesture ‘Arpan’, meaning to offer in Hindi. This has been derived from a very common practice conducted by Indians often. Every morning on the edge of the Ganges, Indians wade into the ancient river, cup a handful of water in their hands, and pour it out to symbolize a self-sacrificial offering. This image has come to represent selfless giving and commitment to a noble cause. Mercy Healthcare uses it as their logo to communicate their dedication to serve the residents of Kolkata with high calibre, trust and efficiency.
