In 1974, after rechristening of the Orissa Flying Club into Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI) under the department of transport, pilot training became an important part of government's plan for aviation. Fast forwarding to 2020, GATI has moved to Birasal Airport and has become one of the shining examples of PPP(Public, Private, Partnership) initiative of the Government of Odisha that is providing guidance and training to the youth of India. With their dedicated airfield with night landing facilities, just 45NM from Bhubaneshwar, they have a perfect environment for flight training.
