University of Stuttgart Admission Deadlines

All students must follow the deadlines suggested by the university for a hassle free process. Note that international study programs and those taught in English have special deadlines and application procedures. Applications for bachelor’s programs are only taken in the winter term. University of Stuttgart International Students Admissions

The University of Stuttgart accepts international applicants, who can apply through their Application portal, along with the required official academic records and other supporting documents within the deadline. Applicants must meet the minimum grade point standards of the University. After selection, Applicants must undergo the enrollment process by signing the enrollment agreement, paying the Tuition fee, and submitting health insurance proof and Language proficiency proofs.

  • Secondary school leaving certificate.

Note: the University of Stuttgart may assign applicants a place at its Studienkolleg (preparatory college) if a foreign applicant falls short of the qualification required. Where an applicant must take up two-semester courses to prepare for the assessment exam; clearing which will allow him/her to apply once more to the University of Stuttgart.

Language Proficiency Tests for International Students

At the University of Stuttgart, different levels of language proficiency are required for different study programs. It is mandatory to learn or even have required prerequisite knowledge of German language for certain courses as the medium of teaching will be in German.

Visa Process for International Students

  • Students must apply for a German student visa at the German embassy or at a German consulate in their country of residence prior to their departure.
  • It can take up to six months to process, so start the process as early as possible.
  • The student visa is normally valid for a maximum of 3 months, so students must acquire a resident permit for extending the stay at the foreign registration authority upon arrival in Germany.

Documents required to get German Student visa are:

  • Duly filled and signed the National visa application form.
  • Valid national passport.
  • Two photocopies of the passport.
  • Birth certificate.
  • Marriage certificate (if applicable)
  • German resident permit.

Note: All the documents must be translated into English or German language.

Proof of sufficient financial resources

  • Applicants must prove that they can afford their living expenses of a minimum of EUR 853 per month for the length of their stay. Following proofs are accepted:
    • Savings account statement
    • Confirmation of available credit balance
    • Proof of a stipend.
    • Scholarship proof.
    • Blocked account.

Health insurance requirements

  • It's mandatory to have valid health insurance for all students in Germany.
  • International students under 30 years have to purchase mandatory student health insurance from a German state health insurance provider. This insurance covers most medical and dental costs.
  • Students over 30 years of age need to get private health insurance.
  • Insurance cost: approx 110 EUR/ month.

University of Stuttgart Undergraduate Admissions

The institute offers undergraduate courses only in the German language. Hence, students will have to be fluent in German. Here is a brief about the application process.

A minimum of 6.0 GPA is required in undergraduate programs to pursue a postgraduate degree at the University of Stuttgart.

Once the students have succeeded in being admitted to study, the next step is to enroll. They enroll online via the Campus Management System C@MPUS where they have to fill in the missing data and then submit Enrollment Request. Until the students complete the enrollment process, they are not yet officially signed up as a student at the University of Stuttgart. Enrollment deadlines as stipulated in the Letters of Acceptance for Master’s programs must also be observed. In most cases, the deadlines will be May 15 for the spring semester and November 15 for the fall semester.

Ques. Can I apply for multiple study programs simultaneously at the University of Stuttgart?

Ans. Yes, a total of three simultaneous applications are allowed.

Ques. Can I submit my application through postal mail?

Ans. You must use the online application via C@MPUS for all study programs. Paper format applications are no longer accepted.

Ques. How to enroll after being admitted?

Ans. Sign on to the Campus Management System C@MPUS. After having accepted your study place, please continue as follows:

  • Fill in the blank fields with your data.
  • Upload your passport photo and the other specified documents.
  • Transfer your tuition fee payments.
  • Print the Request to Enroll, sign it, attach any still missing documentation and mail the package to the admissions Offices that we receive it by the deadline stated in your Letter of Acceptance.
  • International applicants: Please bring your documentation in person to the admissions Office for Foreign and EU Citizens.Please do not send your documents by mail or Facebook beforehand.

Ans. You must enroll by the date stipulated in your acceptance letter.

Ques. Will anyone help me with the initial formalities?

Ans. The International Office will support you upon arrival in Stuttgart. You may come to the IZ anytime during our office hours. During the arrival week, the University offers guidance on formalities in group sessions.

Ques. Are there any sports activities I can attend?

Ans. Depending on your preferences you may find many sports activities offered by Allemeiner Hochschulsport.

Ques. How is teaching done in this pandemic situation?

Ans. Digital teaching format is implemented for the winter 2023/24 semester. However, the institute is eagerly looking forward to starting on-campus activities.
