The subject of the study of ancient sciences is text and image sources, archaeological finds as well as methods and theories of the ancient science disciplines. It deals with the entire literary and material legacy of Greek and Roman antiquity and thus a period that extends from the 8th century BC, in which the Homeric epics were created, to the period of late antiquity, in which the dissolution of the Roman empire for education the early medieval successor states and the Byzantine Empire. In addition, the study of antiquity also deals with the material transmission of European prehistory and early history.
