- The master's program in Materials Science and Engineering rises to this challenge by offering a scientific, interdisciplinary education in engineering, involving a total of seven departments (BGU, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Information Technology, Informatics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics).
- The MS&E master's degree is a new type of course that responds to the high demand for experts with science- and fundamental-oriented, interdisciplinary training in materials science and engineering disciplines.
- In the first part of the course (1st and 2nd semester), the students receive sound basic knowledge.
- In the second part of the course (2nd and 3rd semester), the students specialize in one of the four specializations Multiscale Material Principles , Materials in Engineering Applications , Uncertainty Quantification & Mathematical Modeling and Material Characterization , Testing & Surveillance.
- A special feature of the course is the research internship (Advanced Research Internship, recommended for the 3rd semester).

There are zero tuition fees for all students at TUM. However, all the students are entitled to pay a semester fee of 147.40€ ( 154.39 USD) which includes Student Union fees and the basic semester ticket for public transportation in Munich.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Students should have a Bachelor’s degree from recognized institutions or universities.
Applicants with a Degree from Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, or Pakistan will have to submit a GRE (General) Test. Technical University Munich has defined required minimum scores, lower scores will not be accepted!
- The required scores are:
- Verbal reasoning: (will not be taken into account anymore)
- Quantitative reasoning: 157
- Analytical writing: 3.5
- The Institution Code: 7806, Department: 5199 ("all other departments").
You need sufficient German and English language skills if you wish to apply for this program. Evidence of your proficiency in both languages has to be submitted before the end of the application deadline
Alternatively, students can submit a scorecard of the Indian GATE test (Computer Science; for M.Sc. CSE the Mechanical Engineering Test will also be accepted). The minimal qualifying score of the respective year is necessary.

To apply for the MS Automotive Engineering program of TUM, you must have completed a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university. You must demonstrate proficiency in English through a recognized language test such as TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent. Submission of GRE score is necessary for admission in this program.
To apply for the Master in Renewable Energy program of TUM you must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, natural sciences, or mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Along with this you must also have a valid ELP test score. GRE score is not optional but preferred.
