Master of Arts [M.A] (Film Studies (Major))
Field of Study:
The Film Studies/Media Dramaturgy Master's degree program offered at Mainz is unique to German universities. Course participants are given an in-depth insight into the history, aesthetics, and theory of audiovisual media, whereby the main emphasis is on film. Supplemented by practical media work, the program enables students to critically reflect on and reproduce current forms of international media arts.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree showing they have taken a major in Film Studies as part of the integrated Mainz Culture/Theater/Film program, a minor in Film Studies or hold an equivalent degree in a field related to film, art or media studies. Applicants who have not acquired their university entrance qualification at a German institute of higher education or hold a degree from a program that was not taught in German will need to provide proof of proficiency in the German language at the level of the 'German Language Proficiency Examination for Admission to Higher Education for Foreign Applicants (DSH)'.
