Master of Education [M.Ed] (Teacher Training for Primary and Lower Secondary Education)
Field of Study:
In the master's degree in teacher training in primary and lower secondary education I (MEd), students are able to choose either two teaching subjects from Group A, or one teaching subject from Group A and one from Group B:
- A: English, German, mathematics, music, Protestant religion, sport, Turkish, or visual arts
- B: biology, chemistry, French, geography, history, informatics, physics, social sciences, Spanish, or work studies/technology.
Students must already have studied these two subjects during their bachelor’s degree as the master’s program builds on the bachelor’s degree for a type 2 teaching career according to the KMK (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs).

Tuition Fees
There is no tuition fees. The semester fee for the winter semester 2019/20 is € 328.00.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Following are the requirement for the program:
- A bachelor’s degree meets the requirements for a type 2 teaching career according to the KMK (Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs), i.e., two teaching subjects in a combination permitted at University Hamburg, subject-specific didactics, educational science, and teaching placements.
