Goethe University Frankfurt does not demand a typical tuition fee. Students have to pay 410 USD per semester. This fee entitles students to services such as the unlimited use of public transportation in Frankfurt and the whole Federal State of Hessen.
The focus of research and teaching in Japanese Studies Frankfurt is on pre-modern and modern/contemporary Japan. In terms of methodology, Frankfurt Japanology relies on a solid philological and literary repertoire as well as a cultural and ideological history repertoire that, in the emphasis on the linguistic component, forms the basis of adequate Japanese research.
