Bachelor of Science [B.S] (Technomathematics)
Field of Study:
The Bachelor's degree in Mathematics introduces the basic structures and techniques of mathematics. The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with the essential mathematical sub-disciplines and to convey mathematical ways of thinking and working. In addition, analytical thinking, abstraction skills, and the ability to structure complex relationships are trained.
This successful degree qualifies students for professions in which problem-solving skills and interdisciplinary teamwork are required (i.e. for a wide range of activities in research, business, and administration), the choice of an application subject is mandatory. The Technomathematics bachelor's degree is application-oriented and provides a ratio of mathematics to application subject of around 3: 2. It is possible to take later professional interests into account in the independent, individual study design by choosing the application subject at the beginning of the course. The following application subjects are currently offered in the bachelor's degree in industrial mathematics:

Tuition Fees
There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:

General university entrance qualification (Abitur), subject-specific university entrance qualification or a certificate recognized as equivalent by the responsible state authority.

Those who have qualified in vocational training also have access to the course.

In addition, it is also possible to study without the above qualification due to a special course-related technical aptitude and a general education corresponding to the requirements of the University of Duisburg-Essen, which is proven in an aptitude test.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following requirements:
- Citizens of a country outside the EU with a foreign university entrance qualification must pass the "German language test for university entrance" (DSH 2 level) or the TestDaF (TDN 4) before starting their studies.
- Good knowledge of English is recommended, as English-language literature may appear in the course.
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries can prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
