Tuition Fees
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) does not charge tuition fees. The students must only pay a semester contribution fee of about $401 per semester. This fee includes free use of public transport in North-Rhine Westphalia, and reduced prices for food and beverages in the cafeteria (Mensa) and canteens.
This course is unique because it enables them to recognize and create connections between theories of the humanities, cultural and social sciences and artistic practice.
This course offers a specialization in the following areas:
- Critical Theories
- Aesthetics and historiographies of scenic arts
- Analysis of contexts and interdependencies
- dramaturgy
- Mediumship
- Scenic research
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A Bachelor or comparable degree in the following disciplines: BA in Theater Studies or an equivalent subject
- Applicants who have completed their B.A. in theater studies at the RUB or a regular theater studies institute from a German university can apply to enroll directly in the student secretariat for the master’s course.
- If necessary, comparable (B.A.) degrees from a university of applied sciences can also be obtained from related disciplines or recognized from abroad. However, only those applicants can be considered if their academic performance is at least 70% comparable to that of the Bachelor's degree at the Institute for Theater Studies at the Ruhr University. The following rule applies:
- applicants with a related or comparable (B.A.) degree from a German university apply to the Institute for Theater Studies for recognition of your first degree within the framework of an equivalence test. This recognition is required for enrollment at the student secretariat.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Most of the courses at the RUB are held in German. Students must therefore have sufficient knowledge of German and provide evidence by obtaining one of the following language certificates:
- TestDaF with at least 16 points within an examination
- DSH (level 2 or 3)
- German Language Diploma - DSD - II
- ZOP or Goethe Certificate C2 from the Goethe Institute
- KDS or GDS from the Goethe Institute
- ÖSD language diploma C1
- telc German C1 Hochschule
- Assessment test (examination part German)
