Master of Education [M.Ed] (Pedagogy)

Tuition Fees
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) does not charge tuition fees. The students must only pay a semester contribution fee of about $401 per semester. This fee includes free use of public transport in North-Rhine Westphalia, and reduced prices for food and beverages in the cafeteria (Mensa) and canteens.
This course is unique because it trains both theoretical and methodological knowledge of educational science as well as its application to teaching design; it prepares for teaching in a subject that is primarily a special feature of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in terms of the curriculum in general education (grammar school / comprehensive school).
This course offers a specialization in the following areas:
- Philosophy / Sociology and History of Education
- International comparative educational research
- Teaching/learning psychology
- School and teaching development
- Development and current situation of the subject of education
- Didactic theories
- Lesson planning
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students who apply for the Master of Education program must have a Bachelor (or comparable) degree in either:
- BA Education and a second subject (core subject)
- A mandatory requirement for enrollment/transfer to the Master’s phase is a university degree, usually a bachelor’s degree (but also, among other things, a diploma, master's degree, or state examination) in this or a comparable subject.
- As a consecutive course, the master’s course is based on usually on a six-semester bachelor's degree in the subjects chosen for the master’s degree.
- A Bachelor's degree in the two chosen subjects or a comparable examination is, therefore, the prerequisite for admission to the subsequent Master’s degree.
- Anyone who is involved in a university in the Federal Republic of Germany for the chosen (teaching) subjects the degree of a bachelor's degree (B.A., B.Sc.) or has obtained a comparable qualification after studying at least six semesters.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Most of the courses at the RUB are held in German. Students must therefore have sufficient knowledge of German and provide evidence by obtaining one of the following language certificates:
- TestDaF with at least 16 points within an examination
- DSH (level 2 or 3)
- German Language Diploma - DSD - II
- ZOP or Goethe Certificate C2 from the Goethe Institute
- KDS or GDS from the Goethe Institute
- ÖSD language diploma C1
- telc German C1 Hochschule
- Assessment test (examination part German)
