Master of Science [M.S] (Molecular Science - Spectroscopy and Simulation)
Field of Study:
This degree program is unique because it is a research-oriented, interdisciplinary and multicultural program held in English. The program focuses on the molecular understanding of chemical and biochemical processes. Topics are from the traditional disciplines of chemistry and physics with a focus on modern laser spectroscopy and microscopy, computer simulation, and quantum chemistry.

Tuition Fees
Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) does not charge tuition fees. The students must only pay a semester contribution fee of about $401 per semester. This fee includes free use of public transport in North-Rhine Westphalia, and reduced prices for food and beverages in the cafeteria (Mensa) and canteens.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A Bachelor (B.Sc.) or comparable degree in the following disciplines:
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biochemistry
- Mathematics
- Engineering
- The degree program requires advanced knowledge in Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Chemistry, Spectroscopy, and Mathematics.
- 10 CP in Mathematics
- 8 CP in Theoretical Chemistry and/or Spectroscopic Techniques and/or Quantum Mechanics and/or equivalent topics.
- In GPA-ratings (maximum grade 4.0, minimum grade to pass 2.0) students need at least an average of 3.0
- In percentage ratings (100% maximum, minimum grade to pass 40%), students need at least 70%.
