New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IITI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Julius-Maximilians-University (also known as University of Wurzburg) to create and broaden academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The agreement will foster cross-border academic and research collaboration, cooperative initiatives, and student/teacher exchanges, the IIT Indore said in a statement.
According to IIT Indore, the two institutions will cooperate in a number of areas, including coordinated training courses for students, student and academic staff exchanges, the exchange of scholarly, scientific, and educational materials, the exchange of information in significant educational and research programs, conferences, and seminars, as well as the development of unique projects involving joint research and training activities. Professor Paul Pauli, president of Julius-Maximilians-University, and Professor Suhas S. Joshi, The director of IIT Indore, inked an agreement at Wurzburg, Germany.
Prof. IA Palani, Prof. Devendra Deshmukh, Prof. Avinash Sonawane, and Prof. Raghunath Sahoo were also members of the IIT Indore delegation.
With over 28,000 students enrolled, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) is one of the oldest and biggest institutions in Germany. Numerous prominent researchers and scientists have done research and taught at JMU, including fourteen Nobel laureates.
Professor Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen received the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901 for his work at JMU that led to the discovery of X-rays.
