AP Exam Registration Process

To take Advanced Placement exams candidates must go through the process below-given:

  • Candidates must create an account in College Board to register for the AP exam online.
  • Candidates need to pay their AP registration fees to test centers directly.
  • Candidates will receive an admit card (admission ticket) from the test center after their seat confirmation.
  • After online registration candidates are final they pay the test center.
  • Candidates who already paid the test center but have not completed the online registration for the AP, will not be able to give the exam.

AP Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be below 21 years of age at the time of AP registration. Applicants must bring their original and valid passports to the exam center. The Advanced Placement exam is flexible in nature. Candidates can decide the number of exams they want to take in a particular year. Some students enroll for AP during their 10th class. The ideal time for the Advanced placement exam registration in India would be in the 11th or 12th class.

Note: Exception for students having one year gap between school and university, military service, or any other circumstances even if they are above 21 year age limit.

AP Additional Testing Policies

Here are a few additional AP exam policies that candidates must know:

  • Candidates can take any or all of the 4 physics exams in one particular year.
  • Candidates cannot retake an exam in the same year. They can retake it in a subsequent year.
  • Candidates cannot take both Calculus AB and Calculus BC in the same year.
  • Candidates cannot take 2 exams scheduled on the same date and time. They need to decide which exam they need to take first and then take the other exam.
  • If the test center allows, then candidates can take the prerequisite for AP Computer Science Principles Exam. For that, they need to register for the exam and enroll in the corresponding AP course. Additionally, candidates must submit portfolio work and complete the end-of-course exam to receive their complete AP Exam score.
  • AP Exams at test centers are administered by their authority and are paper-and-pencil based. In-person digital exam options are not available for candidates outside the U.S.

Advanced Placement Exam Syllabus

Advanced placement exam offers 34 courses and exams that include maths, sciences, social sciences, arts, and world language. It depends upon the school and the test centers to determine the Advanced placement exam subjects. AP exam in India offers 22 different AP exam courses available for candidates to choose from.

The exam duration of the AP exam in India can vary from 90 - 200 minutes, depending on the subject. The AP exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and a free-response section. The examination is taken in paper and pencil format.

Advanced Placement Exam Scoring Method

Candidates with three or higher in the five-point Advanced Placement score system can be considered successful. They would have the opportunity to apply for the AP Courses. Statistics show that students with higher AP scores tend to experience easier and better academic success in college.

Advanced Placement Exam Dates

The advanced placement exam is conducted in the month of May. Advanced Placement Schedule for 2023 will be administered in schools as paper-and-pencil exams over two weeks in May: May 1–5 and May 8–12. The AP exam in Chinese and Japanese will be administered in schools on computers.

Start Times

  • Exams have local start times and can begin up to 1 hour after the official start time (i.e., exams can begin between 8–9 a.m. local time for morning exams, between 12–1 p.m. local time for afternoon exams, and between 2–3 p.m. local time for Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism during the regularly scheduled exam administration).
