AP EDCET Exam pattern 2023 will be set by APSCHE. The exam will be conducted in Pen and Paper based mode and all the questions will be in MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) format. The medium of paper will be English and Telugu. However, aspirants who choose Kurnool as their test center will also have the option to answer in Urdu also.
- The duration of AP EDCET is 120 minutes (2 hours).
- The total number of questions asked in the entrance exam is 150.
- All the questions carry 1 mark and there is no provision of negative marking. Check Marking Scheme
- There will 4 options for all the MCQs out of which the candidate must choose the correct option.
- AP EDCET 2023 syllabus is based on graduation level.
The test comprises 3 parts namely Part A, Part B and Part C. All the candidates have to compulsorily attempt Part A and Part B while for Part C they must choose 1 out of the 5 subjects.

AP EDCET 2023 Exam Pattern in Detail
The exam will have 150 objective questions divided into 3 parts - Part A, Part B, and Part C. The first and second parts are compulsory and common for all aspirants. There will be no choice of subjects for the first 2 parts. However, in Part C, aspirants can choose any one subject out of the 5 subjects that are available in the methodology. Candidates can check the detailed exam pattern for all the 3 sections below.
- Exam Pattern of Part A: This section will test the candidate’s knowledge of the English language. The total number of questions asked in this section will be 25. Every right answer will be rewarded 1 mark. Hence, the maximum obtainable marks in Part A are 25.
- Exam Pattern of Part B: This section will assess the aspirant’s General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude. There will be 15 questions about General Knowledge of 1 mark each and 10 questions about Teaching Aptitude. Students must select the most appropriate alternative out of 4 options available as their answer.
- Exam Pattern of Part C: In this section, a candidate has to choose 1 subject from the Part C Methodology. It will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude in the special subject chosen. It will comprise of 100 questions and total obtainable marks are 100.
Aspirants must choose any one of the following subjects- Mathematics, Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry), Biological Sciences (Botany and Zoology), Social Studies (Geography, History, Civics and Economics) or English. They must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility norms for the choice of subject under Part C. The eligibility criterion for each subject is as follows:

Marking Scheme
The applicants must know the marking scheme in order to decide how to attempt the questions in the entrance examination. The marking scheme of AP EDCET 2023 is as follows:
- 1 mark will be awarded for marking every accurate answer.
- There will be no penalty for incorrect or wrong answers i.e. negative marking is not applicable.
- No mark will be deducted from the total score of the aspirant for leaving a question blank or not attempting it.
- If two options are marked as answers, it will be considered as a wrong answer.
Qualifying Marks
The qualifying marks for all general category applicants in the AP EDCET 2023 are 25% of the total score. These students must score 37 or more marks in order to be eligible for admission. The candidates belonging to the reserved category of SC/ST communities will have no qualifying marks for ranking. They will be selected regardless of the marks they score in the entrance test. Women candidates who choose Physical Sciences or Mathematics as their methodology will not have minimum qualifying marks.
AP EDCET 2023 Syllabus
The syllabus for AP EDCET exam is based on graduate level knowledge. It covers questions from topics of degree subjects (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, etc.) from the year 2019-2023. It is decided by the APSCHE for every subject. Aspirants must make sure that they follow the right syllabus to prepare well for the exam. The section wise syllabus is given as follows:
Part A: English
This section will assess the grasp an aspirant has on English language. The candidate’s ability to comprehend the contents of the given passage and to answer questions based on it will be tested in Reading Comprehension. Through this section, a candidate’s vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, correction of sentences, articles, prepositions, tenses and spellings will be tested. Questions on transformation of sentences to simple, complex and compound as also voices, direct and indirect speech will be asked.
Part B: General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude
Questions will be designed so as to assess the ability of the student’s general knowledge of the environment and its application to society. This section will also test their knowledge of current events and application of observation and experience gained from their scientific outlook. It will also include questions pertaining to India and its neighbouring countries and about History, Culture, Ecology, Geography, Economics, General Policy and Scientific Research.
In order to evaluate the Teaching Aptitude of aspirants, characteristics like ability to communicate, ability to deal with children and ability to recognise individual differences will be tested.
Part C:
The syllabus for Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences and Social Studies shall be of graduation level from the revised common core of the degree syllabus.
English (Part C):
- 50 questions from the syllabus of 10th class level will be asked in the exam. The different topics that need to be studied are Grammar, Idioms and Phrases, Language functions, Elements of Phonetics, Writing skills, Reference skills and Study skills.
- 50 questions from the syllabus prescribed for Optional English at BA degree level (BA Special English) or Modern Literature will be asked.
