Ans. NIT Trichy has great placements for branches like CSE and ECE. Most of the recruiting companies give preference to B.Tech students rather than M.Tech. But as far as Communications Engineering is concerned, you will be allowed to appear for placement drives held by semiconductor companies with B.Tech students.  There are quite a few companies that prefer Communications students over VLSI. Many students end up being placed in dream semiconductor companies. Out of say, 35 students, only 1 or 2 are not placed. The placements are definitely improving over the years. It is advisable to have basic coding knowledge at least along with your core subject. That way, you will definitely be able to do well.Read more

Ans. IISc and IITM both offer good placements opportunities for M.Tech ECE. Same core companies visit the campuses, especially for ECE branches of Micro-Electronics and Electronics Systems Engineering.  Due to the small batch size, competition is much less at IISc. Some of the major recruiters were Texas Instruments, Cisco, Analog Devices, etc. The highlights of IISc M.Tech ECE placements report an average CTC of INR 15 LPA.  Dring the 2021 placement drive of IITM, M.Tech students received an average CTC of INR 16.84 LPA. Read more

Ans. NIT Surathkal is ranked 21st in the engineering category by NIRF ranking 2019. It is one of the oldest and pioneer technical institutes in India. The institute offers an excellent placement record of 92-95% for the undergraduates every year.  Placement Highlights: NIT Surathkal witnessed 80% placements in MTech. Around 286 companies visited the campus in 2019. The placement report for the MTech witnessed decent growth in the highest and average package last year.  Around nine companies offered the on-job role to the MTech students.  The table given below shows a brief overview of the institute:  Placement percentage 96% Highest package INR 18.75 LPA Average package INR 11.90 LPA The top recruiters are Amdocs, Teradata, Radisys India, Honeywell Technology, Idrive Software, Dell EMC, Cisco Systems, Riverbed Technology, etc. Admission process:-  The candidates are selected based on the 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA obtained in BTech/BE/BCA course.  The final selection of the candidates is a good mark in the NIMCET test.  The cutoff required is 175. Ans. Both, IIT Bhubaneswar and IIIT Bangalore offer decent M.Tech in electronics and communication programs and provide good placement so it’s difficult to choose one institute over the other. Given below are a few factors which the students are required to consider before selecting between the two colleges:- Placement: In terms of placement, the average CTC of IIT Bhubaneswar stands out to be 11.5 lakhs/annum. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Oracle, IBM, etc visit the IIT Bhubaneswar campus for placement drive. Few well-known PSU named ISRO, IOCL, and ONGC were also part of the placement in 2019. Apart from the offered jobs, the final year students are offered internships with a good amount of pay. Highest CTC touched approx 39 lakhs/annum. In 2019 from the electronics and communication field almost 86% of students got a decent placement from the campus. IIT Bangalore showed remarkable progress by having 100% placement in 2019. The School currently offers M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering specializations with an intake student strength of 18. The program duration is 2 years where the second year is fully dedicated for research purposes only. The M.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering program focuses on providing students an insight into research areas such as Communication Engineering, Signal Processing, and others. Recently, IIT Bhubaneswar signed MoU with many universities for various purposes like research and student exchange. The institute also collaborates with foreign universities such as University of Warwick, University of Southampton, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, University of Western Ontario, University of New York, University of North Dakota USA, and McGill University. Ques. Can you share your M.Tech ECE interview experience at IIT, Bhubaneswar?

Ans. For admission into M.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar, students are shortlisted on the basis of their GATE score. This institute conducts a written test and an interview to select the shortlisted student for admission. Before the interview, the selected candidates need to appear in a written test, and only those who pass the test are considered eligible for the interview. There is no negative marking in the test and the subjects covered for ECE are Communications, Signals, EMT, Digital, Analog, EDC, and Maths. The pattern of the written test is as follows: 35 questions for 90 minutes. 1-20 questions which are 1 mark questions. 21-35 questions which are 2 marks questions The result of the written test is declared within one hour of the exam. And, the selected students are required to go through an interview in order to get admission. You may have the interview on the same day or the day after the written test. The interview takes about 15-20 minutes and the interview panel will have at least 4 members. Questions asked during the interview are mostly from your B Tech project, your choice of subject. If you get selected, the institute will let you know via email after a few days.Read more

Ans. IIT BHU faculty for M.TEch ECE is good. The faculties are well experienced. Most of the faculty members have their Ph.D. The HOD of ECE department is Prof. Vishwambhar Nath Mishra. He has many publications to his name.  The faculties have received many awards. Dr. Somak Bhattacharyya who teaches Microwave Engineering, Metasurface, Terahertz, was selected for the IEEE UP Section Young Professional Star for the month of February 2021.
