MA from IIT Madras

IIT Madras offers MA Program in Development Studies and English Studies, each of  5-Years. The course is meant to prepare students to work in fields like NGOs, Government Sectors, Academics, and Private Organizations.

MA from IIT Madras: Admission Process

• The admissions to IIT Madras MA are done solely based on performance in the Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE).
• HSEE is conducted by IIT Madras every year to enroll students in their 5-Year MA programs. 
• The minimum eligibility to appear for the entrance exam is a bachelor's degree from a recognized university and a 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
• The HSEE exam is very competitive, so one needs to prepare well for the entrance exam.
• HSEE consists of two parts: Objective Questions, and Essay Writing. The duration of the exam is three hours.

MA From IIT Bombay

IIT Bombay offers integrated MA+PhD in Philosophy for a period of 6-Years. It teaches the themes of philosophy so that a student can carry out his independent research and have a career in teaching in leading schools and institutions.

The eligibility criteria is a bachelors’ degree in any discipline with an aggregate of 60%.

MA From IIT Bombay: Admission Process

• The admissions are done based on performance in DEEP (Dual-degree Entrance Examination in Philosophy) conducted by IIT Bombay at its college premises during June 2023.
• The details of the test and interview can be found at the official website (www.hss.iitb.ac.in). 

The syllabus of the entrance test consists of general topics from the field of philosophy, and critical thinking, comprehension, and writing skills.

• Philosophy: Allegory of the Cave, Education, Knowledge, Theory of Forms, Nature of Justice, Soul and Virtue, Nature of Categorical Propositions, Distribution, Square of Opposition, Aristotelian Syllogism, Moods and Fallacies, Cause and Effect, The meaning of Cause; Induction by Simple Enumeration; Mill’s Method of Experimental Inquiry, etc.

MA From IIT Guwahati

IIT Guwahati offers MA in Development Studies for a period of 2-Years. The course is aimed at teaching various aspects of development through research and the course curriculum.

MA from IIT Guwahati: Admission Process

• The admissions to the course program are done through the entrance test, conducted by IIT Guwahati. 
• The test consists of MCQs from areas like current affairs, contemporary economy, society, and policies. Some questions are also expected from logical reasoning.
• After the declaration of exam results, the students are supposed to report to the college for counseling and getting their admission done.

IIT Mandi offers MA in Development Studies for a period of 2-Years to students who wish to learn about sustainable development. The program deals with challenges faced in regions like the Himalayas to train students for upcoming challenges in the field of development.

MA From IIT Mandi: Admission Process

• The admissions to MA Program are done on the basis of marks obtained in graduation, and thereafter performance in interview and written test.
• The students are required to fill the online application, along with the details of their graduation.
• The candidates are then shortlisted and called for a written test and interview on the college premises itself.
• The final selection of the candidates is done on the basis of performance in the written test and interview.
