Course Structure

The course structure for M.Arch. is so divided that there are theoretical and internal papers. There is separate weightage given to both theory and internal assessment methods. Internal assessment methods include practical files, assignments, attendance etc.

There is also separate weightage given to training/internship.  This is included as a part of the curriculum.  It might be a 6 months or summer internship which is compulsory for all students.Industrial training is important as it provides a practical base for theoretical knowledge amassed in the course.

The basic objective here is to develop large scale projects keeping in mind environment sustainability. This will enhance the idea of design and implementation of design in practical form.

Contemporary Architecture-Theories and Trends

Modernism and international style, Bauhaus school, De Stijl Movement, Late Modernism, Post Modernism, Advanced theories in contemporary  architecture, Indian modernism

This paper will implement various theories and ideas of architecture into students. This will indeed provide them with conceptual clarity of the subject and also the in depth knowledge of contemporary architecture.

Sustainable Built Environment

Built environment, sustainability, Traditional sustainable practices, site and buildings, strategies and technologies, sustainability assessment rating system

The idea here is to understand impact and issues of built environment and sustainability as a response.

Urban Design

Urban forms, patterns, spaces in history, elements of urban environment, concepts of urban design, urban design principles and techniques

This paper will inculcate various elements of urban design like concepts and techniques and provide with a solid base for learning.

Megastructures

Design of megastructures, trends and techniques, building services, costruction process

To understand the concept of megastructures and also techniques for construction of megastructures in future. This will provide the students with learning skills which can be implemented as professional tools.

Training/Internship

6 months training or internship students have to undergo under any organization.

This will provide them with professional exposure before they will pass out and lead to a settled development- helping them choose a better job profile.
