  • BCA is an application-oriented program that can be studied by candidates belonging to the Arts, Commerce and Science streams whereas BSc is a science-related field that requires the candidates should belong to the science stream only. Candidates belonging to other streams cannot pursue this program.
  • BCA requires that the candidates must have an intermediate qualification in mathematics to pursue BCA but the same is not the case with BSc.
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 50% or above to pursue BCA while the minimum aggregate required for BSc ranges between 50-60 %. 

Difference Between BSc Admission and BCA Admission

The Admission Process of BSc involves candidates' need to clear entrance exams such as IPU CET, BHU UET, CUET, CUCET, etc. Admission to the BSc course is also done on the basis of merit as well. After clearing the entrance test, a cut-off is released. Candidates coming within the cut-off range can apply for the course. They will be called for the counseling process. Candidates need to take their original documents for verification. After final verification, candidates will be required to submit the fees. 

BCA Admission criteria are almost similar but some of the entrance exams might be different. Admission to the BCA course is also done on the basis of merit on the basis of marks scored in Class 12th. The cut-off is released and the candidates within that cut-off range can apply for the course.

BSc and BCA offer specialization in multiple domains. However, the Specialization of BSc is very wide as compared to BCA which is limited to computer applications. There are a total of 114 BSc specializations.
