What does a Physiotherapist do?

A physiotherapist is a medical professional who specializes in treating injuries and conditions that affect movement. They assist people with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through exercise and physical therapy, manual therapy, education, and counseling. Physical therapy helps restore movement and function. It also helps reduce the risk of future injury or illness. It takes a holistic approach that directly engages patients in their own care.

Physical therapists usually recommend exercise to improve mobility and function. This includes exercises aimed at improving movement and strength in specific body parts - these usually need to be repeated regularly for a certain amount of time.
