Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Textile Design)

The curriculum of the course is designed in a way to impart knowledge about various factors of textile designing and its related industry for example, color usage, textile terminology. The assessment scheme is based upon theory and practical papers.

There is separate weightage assigned to theory and practical papers.

Objective

Principles of design and fashion

Movement emphasis proportion, rhythm, scale harmony, unity

Students are made aware of fashion basics with its theoretical approach. The approach followed here is to make them comfortable with all terms and facts of design, so that their vision is not any more blurred in future in regards of design specific principles.

Introduction to textiles

Weaving, knitting, felting, braiding

Idea is to make students familiar with core subject. Here students will learn how and what of textile industry. They will be made to learn on immense theoretical base, upon which they will stand as future leaders and textiles facts will no more be unknown to them.

Material Studies

Fiber, various textile materials, cotton textiles

Objective is to make students learn how the material of the cloth is related to design. This course will even let them learn the fiber quality specifications which they can apply in their future prospects while dealing with various designs. The material studies is a kind of subject which will also enhance their knowledge of production of textile and raw material related to it.

History of design

Objects of designs, stylistics context

Here implication is to make students familiar with grassroots history of the subject. The implied aspect here is to make students aware of the ancestral and ancient civilized design structures which are making a comeback. Even the subject will focus on historians of designs who were great in their fields, to teach their work to students and make them aware of their practical skills.

Traditional textiles and embroidery of India

Printing, crafts, sources, processes

Students will be made familiar with traditional ethics of the country. Students will learn about the diversity of India, culture of India and civilization of India. It will also teach about the handloom fashion and traditional fashion which is popular in rural India.

Elective 1

Any foreign language

To promote interdisciplinary learning.

Training

With any organization dealing  in textile or fashion industry

To get practical work uphold and provide to students with a hand in production, practice and manufacturing of designs, textiles and fabrics. It will inculcate in them a feeling of learned experience.
