Established in 1948, Calcutta National Medical College is a state government medical institute located in Kolkata which offers 5 courses with almost 30 specialisations in preclinical, paraclinical and clinical divisions. It offers undergraduate, post graduate and postdoctoral courses such as MBBS, M.Ch, DM, MD and MS. In addition to this, the college also offers Nursing and diploma courses for their students.
Affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata, the institute is established by the Union of National Medical Institute and Calcutta Medical Institute. The college admissions are done solely on the basis of NEET scores and seats are reserved for the state quota students. The college has a good alumni network and a great placement statistics with most of the students being placed in various private hospitals off campus. Calcutta National Medical College Admissions
Calcutta National Medical College offers various courses in the medical field with different specialisations. The admissions are done solely on the basis of NEET entrance test. The undergraduate admissions are done through NEET-UG in which 85% seats are reserved for state quota. The postgraduate admissions accept NEET-PG entrance test and 50% state quota seats are reserved for the same. The admission criteria for the same is summarised below:-
MBBS
- Candidates should have attained minimum 17 years of age as on or before 31 December in the admission year.
- Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in PCB for general category.
- Candidates should have a valid score in NEET-UG.
MS/MD/Post Graduate Diploma in Anaesthesiology
- Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in PCB for general category.
- Candidates should hold an MBBS degree with 50% marks and 1 year internship certificate.
- For SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks obtained should be 40% and for PWD, it should be 45%
- Candidates should have a valid NEET-PG score
M.Ch/DM
- Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination from a recognized board with minimum 50% marks in PCB for general category.
- Candidates should hold MS degree for M.Ch and MD degree for DM with 50% marks and 1 year internship certificate.
- For SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks obtained should be 40% and for PWD, it should be 45%
- Candidates should have a valid NEET-SS score.
How to Apply?
- The applications are accepted online for the entrance test.
- Candidates have to appear for NEET-UG for undergraduate, NEET-PG for postgraduate and NEET-SS for M.Ch./DM courses.

Calcutta National Medical College Placements
Calcutta National Medical College also has a placement cell through which every student needs to complete one year rotary internship that is a mandatory part of the course and can be done in any private/government hospitals or clinics. The college provides the opportunity to all the students to opt for housestaffship or internship in the college hospital itself. The stipend is given around INR 20,000 per month to each individual student. The placement ratio is around 95%, however, all the placements are done off-campus in various private hospitals and the selection is done as per their norms.
