IISER Bhopal Admission 2024: Courses, Fees, Eligibility, Selection Criteria, Registration

IISER offers a BS program in 2 broad streams i.e. Engineering Sciences disciplines And Humanities and Social Science discipline (Economic Sciences). 

In the engineering Sciences discipline, after completing a common curriculum in the first two years, students can choose from one amongst the three major disciplines currently being offered: Chemical Engineering, Data Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science.

IISER also offers BS-MS (Dual Degree) to students who have passed class XII. The process of admissions in all IISERs is managed by the Joint Admissions Committee (JAC), headed by a Chairman and having members from all IISERs.

The specializations offered by BS-MS (Dual Degree) are Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics.

Eligibility Criteria

• For BS, candidates must have passed (10+2) with mathematics as one of the subjects.
• For BS-MS, candidates must have passed (10+2) in science stream

Selection Criteria

The admission to IISER BS and BS-MS is done through different channels-

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY): Candidates having a valid KVPY fellowship are eligible to apply for admissions.

Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced): Candidates in the General category securing a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced are eligible to apply. For candidates belonging to the reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PD), their category rank would be used. Additional cut off criteria may be applicable.

State and Central Boards: Students who have passed (10+2) level with science stream during the current or previous year with marks equal or above the cut off percentage in their respective boards are eligible to apply.

Students applying through the SCB channel will have to appear in IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various centers across the country.

How to Apply to IISER BS & BS-MS programs?

• Fill the personal details, Qualification details, and upload the documents required to complete the application process.
• Fill the center choice for IISER Admission Test and select the IISERs in the decreasing order of your preference.

The application fee for the form is INR. 2000/- for general category students and INR. 1000/- for reserved caste candidates.

IISER offers Integrated Ph.D. in 3 specializations in full-time mode. The Institute offers an Integrated Ph.D. program in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Integrated Ph.D. program consists of course work followed by qualifying/comprehensive examination, research work, seminars, and a thesis.

Integrated Ph.D. students from all disciplines will have to register for a minimum of 48-course credits and a minimum of 40 research credits. In order to graduate, they should have a total minimum of 128 credits.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must have completed a graduate program (B.Sc./B.Tech. /B.E.) in a discipline relevant to his/her choice of Integrated Ph.D. program
• Minimum 60% marks or CGPA/CPI of 7.0 on a 10-point scale, in the qualifying degree
• The Department of Chemistry is not offering admissions into the Integrated Ph.D. program this semester.

Selection Criteria

• For the admission, candidates are required to submit the Online Integrated Ph.D. Application in the respective departments of Mathematics (Check here) and Physics (Check here)
• Candidates seeking admission in Mathematics and Chemistry should have a valid JAM score and candidates seeking admission in Physics should have a valid JEST score

Ph.D. program consists of course work, qualifying/comprehensive examination, seminars, and a thesis. Ph.D. students will have to register for course work comprising a minimum of 16 to 24 credits and a minimum of 40 research credits. In order to graduate, they should have a total minimum of 96 credits (coursework and research work).

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate should have completed a postgraduate program (M.S./M.Sc./M.Tech. /MBBS) in a discipline relevant to the choice of the Ph.D. program.
• Candidate should be preferably not more than 28 years. Age relaxation of 3 years will be given for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST/PD/Female applicants.

Selection Criteria

• Candidates are selected on the basis of score obtained in GATE and/or have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET)/Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR-JRF), University Grants Commission-Junior Research Fellowship (UGC-JRF) or other equivalent examinations.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, will be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories.
