University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS) is a constituent department of Panjab University, Chandigarh. It was established in the academic session 2004-05.
University Institute of Legal Studies currently offers two five-year integrated LLB courses, viz. BA LLB and B.Com LLB at the UG level. At the PG level, the institute offers a regular LLM program including a LLM Evening Course of two and three-year duration, respectively.
- The minimum eligibility for BA LLB is 10+2 examination with atleast 50% marks from any recognized university/board.
- For B.Com LLB, candidate must pass 10+2 examination in commerce with atleast 50% marks from any recognized university/board.
- The university conducts PU LLB for admission in Integrated LLB programs.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ ST categories are allowed relaxation of 5% marks (for all courses) in the minimum marks eligibility criteria.
- For LLM, candidate must pass in LLM/ BA LLB/ B.Com LLB with minimum 55% marks for eligibility.
- Selection of the candidates in all the courses is done on the basis of academic merit and entrance test conducted by the university.
- For PG admission, 80% weightage is given to entrance test score and the remaining 20% to academic performance in the last qualifying program.
- The candidate must not be more than 20 years of age as on the last date of submission of application for entrance test for UG courses.

University Institute of Legal Studies BA LLB and B.Com LLB Admission 2023
University Institute of Legal Studies offers two five-year integrated degree programs in Law at the undergraduate level which are B.Com LLB (Honours) and BA LLB (Honours).
The basic eligibility criteria for admission to BA LLB is a pass in 10+2 examination or equivalent from a recognized board in any stream with minimum 50% marks. For B.Com LLB, candidate must pass in 10+2 examination or equivalent in commerce stream with minimum 50% marks. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of entrance test and last qualifying exam marks.

University Institute of Legal Studies LLM Admission 2023
University Institute of Legal Studies offers a Master of Laws (LLM) program and LLM Evening Course at the post-graduate level. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a LLB or five-year integrated LLB (i.e. BA LLB/ B.Com LL.B.) from a recognized institute or university. Candidates are additionally required to score a minimum aggregate of 55 percentile marks in the qualifying exam. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of entrance test and academic calculated in the ratio 80:20 respectively.

- In the regular LLM program, 40 seats are reserved for open category candidates, whereas the remaining 8 are for NRI (4), Kashmiri Migrants (1 seat), Single Girl Child (2) and Cancer, AIDS and Thalassemia patients (1 seat).
- In the case of LLM Evening Courses, 20 seats are for Advocates/ Judicial Officers/ Civil Servants discharging Judicial Duties; another 20 for fresh law graduates and the remaining 8 for NRI (4), Kashmiri migrants (1), single girl child (2) and Cancer, AIDS and Thalassemia patients (1).

How to Apply
- Candidates may visit Panjab University’s online admission portal and fill the application form online.
- All particulars in the application form should be filled with correct and accurate details. The application should also remember to enter his name exactly as is in the last qualifying documents.
- The academics details should be entered as it has been scored.
- Candidates are required to upload scanned copies of their passport-size photograph and signature at the time of filling the application form online.
- After uploading the photograph and signature, the candidate should take a printout of the complete application form for future correspondence.
- Finally, the applicant should pay the application fee using credit/ debit card or net-banking.
- Alternatively, the candidate can pay the application fee using bank challan of any nationalized bank of their choice.
- It is mandatory for all entrance exam qualified candidates to attend counselling conducted by the Panjab University.
