MGPGI is a government institution. It was established in the year 1990. The institution is affiliated to the Pondicherry University. It offers two degrees – BDS and MDS. Both the degrees are recognized by the Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
- The basic admission criteria of BDS program is a pass in class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects.
- Also, the candidate must have obtained 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and English taken together.
- The selection in BDS will be based on the merit in NEET – UG exam or All India Entrance Exam.
- The minimum eligibility for MDS is a BDS degree with a one year mandatory internship from a dental college recognized by the MGPGI selection body.
- The score in the NEET- MDS will be the basis of selection in MDS course.

MGPGI Pondicherry BDS Admission 2023
MGPGI offers BDS course of 5 years duration at the graduation level. The minimum eligibility for applying to BDS is a pass in Class 12th with PCBE as the main subjects and 50% marks together in PCB.
Selection Criteria
- The selection of the candidates who are natives of Puducherry (Domiciles) is done on the basis of NEET – UG marks, released by the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC).
- Admission under All India Quota is given to the candidates shortlisted by Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Govt. of India, on the basis of All India Entrance Exam.
- For the NRI / NRI sponsored / OCI students, a merit list is prepared based on All India NEET – UG rank.

MGPGI Pondicherry MDS Admission 2023
MGPGI offers MDS course at the post graduation level. The course offered is of 3 years duration with six specializations. The minimum eligibility for admission to MDS is a pass in BDS programme with one year of compulsory internship. The candidates will be selected on the basis of merit in NEET-MDS qualifying examination.

MGPGI Pondicherry Application Process 2023
A candidate can download the application form from the official website and make the subsequent submission Offline. Follow the given steps for applying:
BDS course (For NRI/ NRI Sponsored/OCI students)
- Click on the official website.
- Click on the application form and a pdf will open in front of the candidate.
- Fill all the details correctly and attach the necessary documents along.
- For making the registration fee payment, the candidate has to make a crossed DD in the US Dollar currency, equivalent to INR 2500/- drawn in favour of Dean, Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institution of Dental Sciences, Puducherry payable at State Bank of India, Puducherry.
Necessary document submission along with the application form:
- Copy of Birth Certificates/SSLC marks list/ Proof of DOB.
- Copy of Higher Secondary marks list / XII marks list.
- Copy of Transfer certificate issued by the Institution last studied.
- OCI students have to produce a valid visa obtained from the concerned Indian Mission abroad.
- Xerox copy of NEET rank and score.
- Xerox copy of NRI Status Certificate of the financial supporter issued by the embassy of the respective country under their seal.
- Copy of NRI Bank Account Passbook of the financial supporter.
- Copy of passport of the financial supporter.
- Copy of nativity certificate of financial supporter.
