Established in 2005, the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities is located in East Coast Road, Muttukadu, Chennai to empower people with Multiple Disabilities such as Low Vision, Blindness, Locomotor Disability, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, Mental Illness, Leprosy Cured Persons and suchlike.
The institution offers various courses like B. ASLP, B.P.T. and B.O.T., M. Phil. and PG Diploma course and CCCG and special education courses. NIEPMD works under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, and Govt. of India.

Candidates who have passed their 10+2 from the relevant subjects can apply for Bachelors in Physiotherapy, Bachelors in Occupational therapy, Bachelors in Audiology Speech-Language Pathology. For B.Ed. Special Education from NIEPMD, candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree.
Candidates will also have to go through Common Entrance Test for BPT whereas for BOT selection is based on CET for All India quota and counselling based as conducted by DMETN for State Quota. Selection of eligible candidates in BASLP will be based on valid scores in NEET.

Those candidates who have multiple disability can apply for post-graduation course from NIEPMD. Candidates need to have a relevant bachelor’s degree in order to apply for post-graduation in NIEPMD. Other than this, all the eligibility criteria are mentioned below in the tabular form.
A merit list would be released on the official site of NIEPMD on the basis of qualifying marks of candidates and availability of seats. Candidates can check the list online and if selected, need to pay the required fees in the college campus itself.

Candidates with multiple disabilities can apply for diploma and special courses such as Certificate Course in Care Giving and D.Ed. Special Education in various specification.
