BMS College of Engineering admits eligible candidates to its M.Tech program based on the scores in Karnataka PGCET. However, candidates with a valid GATE score card are exempted from PGCET and are admitted directly on the basis of their GATE scores.

Program Structure
- Attendance: Students need to maintain a minimum of 85% attendance in all courses in each semester. In case of medical emergencies and other legitimate grounds, the college will pardon up to 10% of attendance. Also, if a student fails to meet the attendance bar, they will be abstained from appearing in the Semester End Exam.
- Course Structure: The M.Tech curriculum structure is designed by considering the type of knowledge the student will receive in his/her specialization. Each specialization comprises Core Courses, Elective Courses, Internship and Project Work. The credit system is as follows:

- Comprehensive Exam: The assessment of students is done in two parts, namely, CIE and SEE which carry equal weightage. To gauge the overall performance of the students, the results of CIE and SEE are taken individually and together.
- Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE): CIE includes regular homework assignments, class tests,problem-solving, group discussions, quiz, seminar, and mid-term tests.
- Semester End Examination (SEE): SEE is conducted by the controller of the examination at the end of a semester. It includes a practical/ design examination and a written examination for theory courses.

- Evaluation: The performance of students in each semester is evaluated on the basis of CIE, SEE , Internship and Project. Candidates must score an aggregate of 50% or above in each semester in order to pass that semester.
- Internship: Students are required to go for a 16-week internship program to gain first-hand experience in the industry. Student’s performance in an internship is also considered in the final evaluation.
- Project Work: Students are assigned the project in 3rd and 4th semesters. The projects are evaluated based on presentations, project reports, and demonstrations.
