Regional Institute of English, established in 1963, is a government institute which works under the purview of Chandigarh administration. The institute works in collaboration with English and Foreign University (EFL-U), Hyderabad and is affiliated to Panjab University.
Regional Institute of English offers RIE certificate in Personal Development program as an Undergraduate (UG) course. MA (English) is offered as Postgraduate course whereas, PGCTE (Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching of English), CTOSS (Chandigarh Training on Soft Skills) are offered as certificate program along with some short-term courses and International courses.

Admission to MA program is done on the basis of PUCET entrance examination.
- For PGCET, admission is given on the basis of first cum first serve basis.
- Minimum eligibility for PGCET is MA (English) or B.Ed. (English) from a recognized university.
- Candidate must have passed Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 50% marks from recognized university for admission to MA course.
- Admission to certification courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.
- For certification course, candidate must be an undergraduate or must be an in-service teacher.

RIE offers certification course in personal, professional, and soft skill development for in-service government school teachers as well as students studying in a government school and colleges such as Teachers/students from Punjab, HP, J&K, and Haryana or from Government Schools/Colleges under Chandigarh administration. The institute offers Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching of English (PGCTE) course.
For teacher-trainees, regular teacher/ lecturer serving in Government School of Punjab/Haryana/ Himachal Pradesh/ J&K/ Chandigarh are eligible for admission. Whereas, Open Candidates with MA (English) or B.Ed. (English) course are eligible for admission.
Admission in this course is done on the basis of first cum first serve basis.

Regional Institute of English MA English Admission 2023
The college offers MA in English as a three-year PG course to the students. Minimum eligibility for MA English is Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks. Admission to MA English is done on the basis of PUCET entrance examination.

Regional Institute of English Application Process 2023
Application for MA English will be filled in online mode only. Visit the official website of Department of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration. Attach/upload one set of self-attested photocopies with admission form.
For MA:
- Visit the official website of Department of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration.
- Click on e-Admissions for the online application process.
- Click on Sign Up and register yourself, an SMS will be received with a password for future reference.
- Now, login to the admission portal and click on Application Form.
- If you are a new student, then click on New Student.
- Select Centralized Admission or Non-Centralized Admission according to the course.
- Fill the form and submit it.
Documents required to be attached/uploaded with Application Form:
- Matriculation Certificate for Date of Birth
- 10+2 Marks statement
- University/ Board DMC of lower examination.
- Character Certificate from the institute last attended
- Migration Certificate / Inter- University Migration Certificate
