M.A. in Sanskrit is a 2-year postgraduate course in Sanskrit literature. It is a historical Indo-Aryan language and the primary liturgical language of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Admission to the course is based on the candidate’s performance in 2 stages:
- Institutional Test.
- Personal Interview- involving assessment of fitness, work experience, publications and Statement of Purpose.

M.A. in Sanskrit: Academic Options
Upon successful completion of the course, postgraduates interested in further studies in the discipline may go for pursuing M.A. in Sanskrit Literature, B.Ed. or Ph.D. in Sanskrit, or Master’s in Mass Communication and Journalism with specialization in Sanskrit Patrakarita.
Other options include pursuing Postgraduate Diploma in Functional Sanskrit and Translation, or Post-Graduate Diploma in Sanskrit Journalism.

The college offers MA in Bengali and M.Sc. in five specializations.
Minimum eligibility for MA is candidate must pass in BA (Hons) course in relevant discipline with 40% marks in honours. For M.Sc, candidate must pass in B.Sc. (Hons) degree with relevant subject in which they are applying. Admission to the PG Courses is done on the basis of Admission test.
