Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is an educational institution was established in the year of 1786. The institute is primarily located in Bangalore (Bengaluru) in the state of Karnataka, with other observatories in Kavalur, Kodaikanal and other locations.The primary focus of the institute is research and specialization in various forms of physics or astrophysics.
Indian Institute of Astrophysics offers integrated M.Tech, with the possibility of continuing on for a Ph.D., as well as research-oriented post-doctoral fellowships. For the M.Tech. + Ph.D. course offered by IIA jointly with Calcutta University and Ph.D program offered jointly with Pondicherry University, there is an entrance examination held in the month of December, followed by an interview in the month of January.
