Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is an educational institution was established in the year of 1786. Indian Institute of Astrophysics offers integrated M.Tech, with the possibility of continuing on for a Ph.D., as well as research-oriented post-doctoral fellowships. For the M.Tech. + Ph.D. course offered by IIA jointly with Calcutta University and Ph.D program offered jointly with Pondicherry University, there is an entrance examination held in the month of December, followed by an interview in the month of January. Minimum required eligibility for Ph.D program is M.Sc. (Physics) / Integrated M.Sc. (Physics) / B.E. / B.Tech. / M.E. / M.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks from Class 10 onwards.
Candidate must also possess an All India rank in the range of 1-250 in GATE or JEST examination or qualification in UGC-CSIR-NET (JRF) exam or currently valid KVPY / INSPIRE fellowship.
Admission to the programs is based on the IIA Screening Test (IIAST) which will be conducted at multiple centres across the coutry.

IIA Bangalore Integrated M.Tech - Ph.D Admission 2023

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics offers a number of postgraduate specializations, each with its own unique accolades involved. The M.Tech. + Ph.D. programme is generally a course of a 6-year duration, with 2 years set aside for the Masters’ degree (M.Tech.). The post-doctoral programme is for a period of two years, with the possibility of a one year extension. Applications are available online on the official university website.

Candidates seeking admission to the integrated M.Tech.-Ph.D. course at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics must apply online well in advance to attend the entrance examination held in the month of December, and the interview held thereafter in January.

Eligibility: Candidates must have BE or B.Tech. Degree in Optics and Optoelectronics/ Radio Physics and Electronics/ Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Electronics and Communications/ Computer Science and Engineering OR M.Sc. degree in Physics/ Electronic Science/ Applied Mathematics/ Applied Physics from a UGC recognized university.

Selection Process:

The selection process to the integrated M.Tech.-Ph.D. course at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics includes the following:

IIA Bangalore Post-Doctoral Fellowship Admission 2023

IIA Bangalore offers Post Doctoral Fellowship program. The minimum eligibility for Research Ph.D. is a candidate must have valid degree of M.Sc/Integrated M.Sc (Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Electronics, Photonics, Optics), M.E./M.Tech and Integrated M.E/M.Tech (Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Opto-Electronics, Radio Physics & Electronics), M.Phil (Applied Physics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Physics).

Selection Procedure:

Candidates must be under 36 years of age for the regular post-doctoral fellowship, and under the age of 32 years for the Chandrasekhar post-doctoral fellowship.
If the applicant is an existing student of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, it is mandatory that the viva-voce must be completed at the time of review.
The selection process for this fellowship involves in-depth analysis of the comprehensive application form that is required to be sent in, completed, at least three weeks before the start of the review process.
