Vivekananda Institute of Technology (VIKT), Bangalore Admissions 2024: Cut Off, Fees, Eligibility

B.E offered by VIT is a four-year full-time degree course offered in five specializations. The course is affiliated to VTU. The admissions to the programme are done on the basis of CET conducted by KEA or COMED-K. Both Karnataka State and Non-Karnataka candidates can apply for admissions, subject to satisfaction of eligibility criteria.

Candidates can apply for management quota seats as well; the admissions to which will be done through a personal interview conducted by the Admission Committee of VIT.

The college also offers lateral entry admissions to the second year of B.E. The selection is solely done as per merit ranks of Diploma CET conducted by KEA. The eligibility to apply for both courses will be as follows:

• Candidates appearing/appeared in the final examination and expecting the results are also eligible to apply for B.E and Lateral Entry.
• The educational eligibility has been relaxed to 40% for reserved category candidates.
• The merit ranks of CET/COMED-K will be based on marks obtained in qualifying examination and entrance exam taken in equal proportions.
• There are no minimum marks required to qualify for CET.
• Candidates seeking admissions under management quota should approach the institute directly for admission procedure.

The institute also offers PG course of M.Tech in two specializations. All admissions are affected by candidates’ performance in PGCET conducted by KEA.

Candidates appearing in PGCET must hold valid GATE scores and bachelor’s degree in an appropriate branch of engineering. KEA conducts online counselling for candidates shortlisted as per the merit ranks.

• A candidate appearing in the qualifying degree examination or expecting results can apply as well.
• As per VTU admission rules those who have acquired their bachelor’s degree in distance learning or correspondence mode are not eligible to apply.
• Management quota seats are occupied on the basis of eligibility norms established by VTU and interview conducted by the institute.
• The merit ranks of PGCET are prepared solely on basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam.
• Candidates belonging to reserved category are given 5% relaxation.

Research programmes offered by the institute include Ph.D in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chemistry and Mathematics. Admissions to Ph.D will be conducted as per norms established time to time by VTU.

To be eligible, a candidate must obtain master’s degree in Engineering/Technology and appear in VRAT. The primary selection will be done through marks obtained in VRAT and final selection through an interview conducted by the institute. The eligibility to apply will be as given below:

• Candidates who are in possession of M.Sc Engineering or M.Tech with a CGPA of 7.75 and have research aptitude are eligible to apply.
• Those with first class Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology and have published research papers in refereed journals or obtained patents are eligible to apply.
• Reserved category candidates are given 5% relaxation in marks or equivalent grade.
• UGC-CSIR and JRF qualified candidates are exempted from appearing VRAT but will be selected on the basis of personal interview.
