- Steps to apply online:
- Visit and log in on NITTTR official website and fill the online application form.
- Candidates can download and print the form from the website and must fill all relevant columns before submitting.
- Candidates applying offline must draw a demand draft of INR 1000 in favour of ‘Director, NITTTR’ payable at Chandigarh and submit it along with the duly filled application form and relevant documents at the institute’s admission cell.
- Candidates applying online must send a hard copy printout of the ‘application form’ along with attested photocopies of relevant documents to the institute campus.

- A University Committee i.e. Research Degree Committee (RDC) is entrusted upon the responsibility of selection of candidates and enrolment.
- Course works (1st Semester) is an important criterion of the PH D procedures. Before registration, a Candidate needs to present a Seminar to state the subject, hypothesis, objectives and the methodology of the research which she/he wants to pursue.
- Towards registration, she/he also would require to submit the synopsis of the research in the given format. The candidate must complete this process within one year of her/his initial registration/ admission.
- The RDC would continuously monitor the progress of the research for the concerned scholars. The Scholar will have to report on it regularly as per the norms through the Supervisor to the RDC.
- Before the submission of the Thesis, the Scholar would attend an open-Pre-submission Seminar. The Scholar would be eligible for this Session subject to her/his publication of at least one paper in an SCI journal.
- The Supervisor’s certificate about the originality of the research and the thesis is also a precondition for submission. The Scholar must follow all the prescribed norms for submission of the thesis.
- Submission will be followed by evaluation as per the prescribed norms. On receiving the evaluation reports, a Viva -Voce Examination will be convened as per the University’s rules. The aspiring candidates may consult with the University’s guidelines for further information.

Ques. Do NITTTR Chandigarh PhD students are provided scholarships?
Ans. Full-Time Scholars admitted under QIP (Poly) scheme, CSIR (INSPIRE), and other schemes (where scholarship is available) will get a scholarship as per rules of various schemes.
Ques. What is the admission schedule for NITTTR Chandigarh PhD program?
Ans. Applications are invited from candidates by advertising the PhD program on institutes in May and December every year.
Ques. What is your refund policy in case I am not able to complete my PhD course at NITTTR Chandigarh?
Ans. In case you leave the Institute without completing the PhD programme, you will get refund only the Institute security/caution money, after the deduction of all outstanding dues.
Ques. What is the scheme of NITTTR Chandigarh PhD test?
Ans. The medium of examination shall be ENGLISH only, except in the test for a language other than English. Tests for Public Administration, Sociology, Social Work, Police Administration and Music will be conducted in the medium of English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Ques. How and when NITTTR Chandigarh PhD interview is conducted?
Ans. The interview for admission to the PhD shall be conducted at least twice a year. However, it shall not apply to the scholarship holders employed in a project. The Supervisor of the candidate shall be a member of the Interview Committee but the entrance test for admission to PhD shall be conducted only once a year as prevalent.
